It was a 6-channel current-, and one channel line voltage measuring system that is connected to a system on a chip computer. The two PCBs contain switching regulators, 3G module, USB device and Ethernet connectors as well as 12 output relays for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). The current and voltage measuring subsystem was built upon energy metering IC ADE7816 from Analog Devices, which is capable of reading either current transformers or Rogowski coils.
The PCB design of this project was very interesting because it required the development of isolated measurement circuit. Also a low level Ethernet transceiver circuit had to be developed from scratch. In order to ease the production, the two PCBs were designed as a single panel separated with a v-cut line.
The system was proven to fulfill the requirements.
