If you want exceptional battery life, tactile controls, and a design built for long listening sessions without fatigue, choose Marshall Major IV On-Ear; if you need a lightweight option with modern Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity and Apple ecosystem integration, choose Amazon Renewed Beats Solo 4.
• Marshall Major IV: The standout strength is its massive 80+ hour battery life paired with an ergonomic design that stays comfortable for hours, making it ideal for small ears seeking all-day wear. The trade-off is the lack of active noise cancellation and the requirement to purchase a separate wireless charging pad.
• Amazon Renewed Beats Solo 4: This option offers a sleeker, lighter build with updated drivers and Bluetooth 5.3 for reliable pairing across both iOS and Android devices. Its main limitation is the shorter 50-hour battery life and the absence of physical volume knobs or multi-directional controls.
• The Verdict on Fit: The Marshall is the pick for those who prioritize endurance and comfort during extended use, while the Beats is better suited for users who value portability and modern wireless standards over raw battery capacity.
The Marshall Major IV is engineered for the listener who refuses to compromise on endurance. When you are looking for the best headband headphones for small ears, this model stands out because its new improved ergonomic design ensures that the tenth hour of listening feels just as comfortable as the first. The ear cushions are softer to the touch and shaped to fit the contours of your ear more faithfully than previous generations, which is a critical detail for anyone with smaller frames who often struggles with clamping force or pressure points.
Sound quality is where this headphone truly shines, delivering the signature Marshall sound with custom-tuned dynamic drivers. You get roaring bass, smooth mids, and brilliant treble that creates a rich audio profile you will never want to turn off. Unlike many competitors that rely on digital equalizers, the Major IV achieves this balance through hardware tuning, ensuring the music sounds natural whether you are deep diving into complex orchestral pieces or heavy rock tracks. The 32-ohm impedance and 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range provide a wide sonic canvas that remains consistent throughout the entire track.

Practicality is another major draw for this device. With up to 80 hours of wireless playtime, you can go days or even weeks between charges depending on your usage habits. The quick-charge feature is equally impressive; a mere 15 minutes of charging via the included USB-C cable grants you 15 hours of listening time. This means you rarely have to plan your day around finding a power outlet. The multi-directional control knob allows you to skip tracks, adjust volume, and manage calls with simple clicks, offering a tactile experience that screen-based touch controls often fail to replicate. Whether you are commuting, working from home, or traveling, the Major IV is built for the long haul.
However, this powerhouse does come with specific limitations. It does not include active noise cancellation, so you will still hear ambient office chatter or street noise unless you are in a quiet environment. Additionally, while wireless charging is supported, the charging pad is not included in the box, meaning you must source one separately if you want to utilize that convenience. The weight of 6.28 ounces is also slightly higher than some ultralight competitors, though the ergonomic design mitigates this feel during extended wear. If you need silence above all else or want the absolute lightest possible device, you might find the trade-offs here less appealing.
The Amazon Renewed Beats Solo 4 targets a different demographic entirely: the user who values modern connectivity and a streamlined aesthetic over raw battery longevity. As a renewed product, it comes with the backing of the Amazon Renewed Guarantee, offering peace of mind that the device works and looks like new while providing access to premium audio features at a potentially lower entry point. The enclosure combines metal and plastic materials to create a durable yet lightweight structure that weighs only 1.12 ounces, making it barely noticeable when worn.
For those with small ears, the reduced weight is a significant advantage. The custom acoustic architecture and updated drivers deliver powerful Beats sound, ensuring that the bass response remains punchy and the vocals stay clear. The Bluetooth 5.3 technology provides a stable connection with a range of up to 33 feet, allowing you to move freely around your home or office without dropouts. This version is compatible with both Apple and Android devices, removing the ecosystem lock-in that sometimes plagues other brands.
The battery life of up to 50 hours is solid for daily commutes and workdays, though it falls short of the Marshall's marathon capabilities. Charging takes about 135 minutes to reach full capacity, which is a reasonable timeframe but lacks the rapid-fire quick-charge capability found in the Marshall. The control method relies on media controls and voice functionality rather than a dedicated physical dial, which some users may find less intuitive for quick adjustments while moving. The matte black finish offers a sleek look that resists fingerprints, maintaining a professional appearance throughout the day.
The primary trade-off here is the lack of extensive customization options compared to the Marshall. There is no multi-directional knob for tactile volume adjustment, and the noise control is listed as none, meaning you cannot actively cancel out background noise. If you are someone who needs to focus in noisy environments or requires the ability to share music instantly via a wired connection (the 3.5mm socket is absent here), this model might feel limiting. It is best suited for users who primarily listen in moderate noise levels and prefer a lightweight, modern device that integrates seamlessly with their smartphone.

The combination of 80+ hours of battery life, the specific ergonomic improvements for small ears, and the tactile control knob makes it the superior choice for anyone serious about their listening experience. While the Beats Solo 4 is a capable device with modern Bluetooth, the sheer endurance and comfort of the Marshall justify the extra weight for most users. If you are specifically looking for the best headband headphones for small ears, the Major IV's design philosophy clearly prioritizes the fit and duration of your session over everything else.
