Location Data: Our app collects your location to provide accurate weather information for your current location. This location data is shared with our weather API partner, Open Meteo, to retrieve the weather information. We do not store the location data. By using our app, you consent to the collection and sharing of your location data. You can disable the collection of location data in your device settings.
Other than the location data we do not collect or store your data, or track your usage in any way.
Data Collection & Storage: Mars Timer is built with a "Privacy First" approach. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, usage statistics, or device information.
Location Data: Unlike our other tools, Mars Timer does not access, collect, or share your location data. All timing functions are handled locally on your device.
Third-Party Sharing: Since we do not collect any data, no information is ever shared with third-party partners or APIs.
Consent: By using Mars Timer, you agree to this policy of total data privacy. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
Exchange Rate Data: Our app connects to the Frankfurter API (api.frankfurter.app) to fetch current currency exchange rates. No personal data is transmitted in this request. Other than this, we do not collect or store any of your data, or track your usage in any way.

Book Data: When you search for a book, the search text is sent to the Google Books API (Google). Covers are loaded from Google Books, Open Library or the German National Library, by book ID or ISBN. Your library, ratings, reviews and notes stay on your device. We do not collect or store them.
AI Features (optional): For book suggestions and automatic genre sorting, the app sends parts of your library to Google Gemini: reading history and ratings, your To read list with notes, optionally the start of your reviews, and title, author and description of books to sort. If you enter your own Gemini API key, the data goes directly from your device to Google. Without a key, it goes through the Mars AI server (ai.catchingclouds.dev), which forwards it to Google Gemini using a paid-tier key; Google does not use this data to improve its products, but may keep it for a limited time to detect abuse. The app asks for your consent before the first request.
Data on the Mars AI Server: The server does not store your books, prompts or answers; they exist in memory only while a request runs. It stores only a random installation ID (not linked to you or your device), the number of requests used per month (kept for up to four months), and the total monthly cost of all requests. IP addresses are used only for a daily abuse limit, held in memory as a salted hash and discarded at the end of the day; no access logs are kept. The web server in front of it logs only its own errors, which can contain an IP address and the request path, never content. No data is sold or shared with anyone other than Google as described above.

Location Data: Our app uses your location to calculate accurate sunrise, sunset, moonrise, and moonset times for your position. Your location data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to any server or third party. You can disable the collection of location data in your device settings.
