This Privacy Policy describes how Marks (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles user information.
1. OVERVIEW
Marks operates as an offline-first application where most features function entirely on your device without internet or account requirements. The app prioritizes privacy by minimizing data collection. Optional account and cloud features are available but never required to use the app.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Offline Use (No Account)
- All app data stays stored locally on your device
- No personal data transmission or server storage occurs
Analytics Data
The app uses Firebase Analytics to examine usage patterns and enhance performance. Firebase may collect app usage events, device specifics, approximate location data, and anonymous identifiers. This information is automatically gathered when connecting to the internet, used exclusively for analytics improvements, never for advertising, and never sold for marketing purposes.

Account and Authentication Data (Optional)
If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, we collect:
- Name and email address (or an Apple-generated relay email address if you use "Hide My Email")
- A unique user identifier from Firebase Authentication
- Profile photo URL (Google Sign-In only)
Account creation is entirely optional. All core features remain available without signing in.
Cloud Backup Data (Optional)
If you enable cloud backup, your app data (bingo cards, goals, and entries) is synced to:
- Google Drive (Android only): Data is stored in your personal Google Drive account in an app-specific folder. We do not access any other Drive files.
- iCloud (iOS only): Data is synced via iCloud Key-Value Storage to your personal iCloud account.
Cloud backup is entirely optional and can be disabled at any time in Settings.
3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use collected information to:
- Enhance app stability, understand feature adoption, and address bugs (analytics)
- Associate your app data with your account for cloud backup and restore (authentication)
- Sync your data across devices or restore it after reinstallation (cloud backup)
We do not sell user data, employ targeted advertising, or perform cross-app tracking.
4. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY
- Local data remains on your device
- Analytics data is processed through Google Firebase
- Account data is stored in Firebase Authentication, operated by Google LLC
- Google Drive backup (Android only) is stored in your personal Google Drive account under an app-specific folder
- iCloud backup (iOS only) is stored in your personal iCloud account via Key-Value Storage
Reasonable security measures are used to protect any data handled online. Authentication tokens are stored securely using platform-provided secure storage.
5. DATA DELETION & CONTROL
- Sign out at any time from Settings to remove your account session from the device
- Delete your Google Drive backup (Android) via Settings > Cloud Backup > Delete Backup. Alternatively, you can revoke the app's Drive access entirely via your Google account's connected apps page, which will prevent any future backup reads or writes.
- Delete your iCloud backup (iOS) by clearing iCloud Key-Value data for Marks in your iCloud settings
- Uninstall the app to remove all local data and stop analytics collection
- Manage permissions via your device settings (e.g., revoke Google Drive access via your Google account's connected apps page)
Firebase Authentication data (your account record) can be deleted by contacting us at the email below.

7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The app is family-friendly and may accommodate children under 13 with parental oversight, though not specifically directed toward that demographic. We do not intentionally collect personal information from users under 13. Account and cloud backup features should only be used by users 13 and older, or under direct parental supervision.
8. USER CHOICES AND CONTROL
- Use the app entirely offline without creating an account
- Enable or disable cloud backup independently from account sign-in
- Halt analytics collection through uninstallation
- Manage device-level permissions via your device settings
- Revoke Google Drive access via your Google account's connected apps page (Android)
9. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
Policy revisions will appear on this page with updated dates. Significant changes affecting how personal data is handled will be communicated via an in-app notice.
