Thank you all that voted for me. It means a great deal to me
Why I am running for mayor.
My name is Mark Raine, and I’m running to be your mayor in this upcoming November election to make Tecumseh an even better place to live, work, and play.
If elected, being your mayor will be my full-time job where I will balance growing our city with preserving our small town feel that we all know and love.
I am excited about the opportunities that I see for our city. Some of the opportunities that I see include cleaning up the old Products site, bringing new homes and small businesses to our community, and ensuring that all of our city's interests are represented and everyone's voice is heard. I believe that these opportunities will help us to create a better future for our city.
I have a proven track record as a leader with a strong background in business and labor that includes communication, team building, and creating relationships with customers and clients that positions me as "The Best Choice" to serve you and our city.
I'm Mark Raine, and I humbly ask for your vote on November 5th to be your mayor.
I will encourage the redevelopment of our vacant properties, which will bring new life to our community. This will not only create new jobs and generate tax revenue, it will also improve the appearance of our city and make it a more desirable place to live. It is past time to clean up the old Products site, which has been an eyesore on this town for far too long. The site is a prime location for redevelopment, and I am confident that the right developer can transform it into a vibrant new mixed-use development that will be a great addition to our community.
Economic Development
I believe that small businesses are the backbone of our economy and the lifeblood of our community. As mayor, I pledge my support to our entrepreneurs and small business owners. I am committed to creating an environment that encourages and supports the growth of small businesses in Tecumseh. I will work tirelessly to preserve the businesses that we currently have and to attract new businesses to our city. I encourage everyone to patronize our local shops and markets. Together, we can create an economy that benefits everyone.
Housing
The housing needs of our community are complex and ever-changing. I understand that our community is in need of additional housing. I am committed to working with developers to ensure that the housing options we build meet the needs of all our families, seniors, veterans, and others. I believe that everyone should have a place to call home, and I will work to make that happen.
I am seeking your vote for the office of mayor. I believe that this community is filled with a population full of talented and passionate individuals. I promise to listen attentively to your concerns and to represent your interests. I will be your advocate and champion, where I will work to ensure that your voice is heard and your concerns are addressed.

FAQ
How do you plan to address the issue of vacant properties?
There are a number of vacant properties in our community. These properties detract from the neighborhood and make it difficult to attract new businesses and residents. I plan to encourage the redevelopment of these properties by providing incentives to developers and partnering with local businesses. This will not only revitalize these areas but also boost our local economy and create jobs.
What are your plans for economic development?
Our community needs small businesses. They create jobs and boost the economy. But small businesses are struggling to survive in this difficult economic climate. That's why I'm committed to making a business-friendly environment to help them thrive. I will encourage entrepreneurship and support the development of small businesses and help them expand into new markets. This will create more jobs and boost the local economy. I will also work to keep the businesses we have and attract new businesses to our community as well.
How will you address the housing needs in Tecumseh?
Tecumseh is facing a housing crisis. The cost of housing is rising faster than incomes, and more and more people are finding it difficult to afford a place to live. I will address this challenge by working with developers to identify suitable sites and leveraging public-private partnerships to create sustainable housing solutions. My goal is to see more people have a place to call home.
What is your vision for Tecumseh in the next 5 years?
My vision for Tecumseh is a thriving, revitalized community with vibrant neighborhoods, a strong local economy, and a place where everyone feels included and has the opportunity to succeed. I aim to foster a community where everyone feels like they belong and has a stake in its success.
What makes you qualified for this position?
My time spent as a Union Steward and being self-employed for over 14 years has given me unique insights into leadership, negotiation, and community needs. I have a proven track record of success in these areas, and I am confident that my skills will help drive the positive changes that Tecumseh needs. I am committed to working with residents and businesses to ensure that our community remains a vibrant and safe place to live, work, and raise a family.

I am looking forward to the opportunity to work for everyone in Tecumseh. I believe my policies should allow for responsive economic development while retaining the small town charm that makes our city so special.
Fun Facts about me
I fell in love with woodworking when I took wood shop in junior high. Since then I've made a variety of items, including several wall clocks, blanket chests, cedar chests, bookcases, and even my own dresser. I especially enjoy the challenge of creating a custom piece of furniture that fits a specific space or need. I find the design process to be very rewarding, and I love the feeling of accomplishment when I complete a project. In 2017 I designed and built a wine rack/table for my daughter's wedding present. I also built a blanket chest for my wife, and she loves it.
I am an avid photographer and have photographed four weddings and many senior pictures. I even took the pictures for the Tecumseh competition cheerleaders in the school year 2014 - 2015. In addition to weddings and senior pictures, I also offered a wide variety of photography products.
I am amateur radio operator, better known as a "ham radio operator". I hold the highest class license, which allows me to operate on all amateur bands. I am also a volunteer examiner for the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), which means I administer tests to other amateur radio operators. I have been licensed since 1994, and I especially like to work portable, which means I take my radio and antenna out into the field and set up and talk to people all over the world. It's great fun, and I always look forward to getting out and talking to people on the air.
I love motorcycles and have been riding since I was 11 years old. I own a Harley Davidson Softtail Heritage Classic and a KTM 300 XC. Both bikes give me a sense of freedom and exhilaration that is hard to describe. I enjoy riding my Harley on the open road and going to motorcycle events. I also like riding my KTM in the dirt with my son, who has a Yamaha YZ 250 F.
I have been camping as far back as I can remember. I started going with my family when I was a child, and I have continued to camp with friends and relatives throughout my life. My wife and I enjoy camping so much that we even have a motorcycle camper that we tow behind our Harley.
I've dabbled in flying remote control airplanes. I discovered that while taking off is voluntary, landing is mandatory!
I am a Tecumseh grad class of 1986 and my wife Adena class of 1989.
