Pancreatic cancer is the uncontrolled cell growth in the pancreas and is very difficult to diagnose early. It has a 5-year survival rate of less than 10% and the number of new cases has only been increasing.
Breath-hold techniques are used to prevent respiratory motion during cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) acquisitions. In CBCT scans, fiducial marker positions have been studied to evaluate daily residual motion during breath-hold radiation therapy. However, movement of fiducial markers throughout the scanning process makes it difficult to accurately locate their positions.
Segment Anything Model 2 (SAM 2) is an AI model from Meta AI that can segment out any object within any video or image sequence. It is easy to manipulate and can be incorporated into other systems. It accepts multiple input prompts such as points, boxes, and masks, which is useful in this project.
