Biography
Marisa is a Los Angeles based singer, actor and dancer. She is a trained vocalist in a variety of styles and genres, and has performed in numerous classical and musical theater stage productions.
In 2024, Marisa performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City, with the El Camino College Symphony Orchestra and combined Choirs. Marisa has been a soprano soloist with the El Camino Concert choir, and she appeared in a featured role in El Camino’s musical, Amelie. Her solo repertoire includes classical oratorio, opera selections, Italian art songs, jazz, as well as contemporary musical theater.
Her love of the performing arts began with classical ballet training at the age of 6, for twenty years in the Los Angeles Area, as well as summer intensives at the Alvin Ailey School of Dance in New York City. Marisa’s dance background led her to perform in numerous productions of The Nutcracker at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. She also taught ballet, pointe and tap to students age 4 through adult at several ballet studios here in the South Bay.
Marisa graduated from the Applied Voice program at El Camino College with an AA degree in Music, emphasis in Vocal Performance. She studied classical, jazz and Broadway voice at El Camino, and was selected as both a merit scholarship recipient and invited to perform in several master classes.
A member of both the Screen Actor’s Guild (SAG/AFTRA) as well as Actor’s Equity Association, Marisa holds a Master of Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Her vocal teaching philosophy prioritizes using proper technique for the overall health of the voice, longevity in singing, as well as helping to unlock the singer’s authentic artistic expression. Marisa’s experience in music, dance and acting, as well as her liberal arts education serve to provide a well-rounded teaching foundation.
