My dissertation was focused on the biomechanical and ecological effects of caudal autotomy, or the voluntary severance the tail, in both terrestrial and arboreal geckos. I was particularly interested in how autotomy effects prey capture and used a combination of high speed videography and focal animal observations to investigate the role of the tail in prey capture strikes.
I am passionate about museum science and herpetology and am looking for a postdoc in a lab that utilizes museum resources and genetic techniques to answer questions about reptile and amphibian biomechanics or diversity.
