Solo student project
Solo student project
March - June 2023 (14 weeks)
Solo project done over 14 weeks after i finished google professional ux certificate, which I did earlier this year. Project prompt was my choice.
Student often face challenges related to procrastination and poor time management.
With numerous classes and assignments to juggle, Staying organized and on track can be overwhelming.
The shift to online learning has further highlighted the need for self-motivation and self-discipline in managing academic responsibilities.
Developing an AI-powered productivity assistant aims to provide students with personalized support in managing their daily tasks, assignments, and deadlines.
Trello and Todoist provide a platform for users to create to-do lists and task management.
MyStudyLife allows for scheduling and tracking of assignments.
None of these competitors offer personalized study plans that are tailored to the student's learning style and academic goals.
This could be an opportunity for my AI Assistant to stand out by providing a clear path forward for students.
I conducted user interviews to gain insights directly from my target audience - college students. (4 students, remote/ in- person)
The aim was to understand their experiences and challenges in managing their daily tasks and explore their thoughts on using AI-powered technology to enhance productivity.
I organized all the data using affinity mapping, where I collated their quotes and identified trends, eventually forming six main insights and four main themes.
Considering the practicality and user feedback from user interviews, using a simple smartphone app seemed accessible. Hence, I decided to stick with designing an app for the final solution platform.
Determining the app's flows, I focused on the main point of the app – goal setting and task management, personalized task reminders and continuous follow-up and progress tracking. I continuously iterated the design, making four major improvements based on feedback from four students.
Adhering to WCAG standards for accessibility is crucial in design.
Comprehensive consideration of accessibility standards from the project's outset is essential.
Conducting a more diverse range of user interviews would provide richer insights.
Maintaining meticulous notes and comprehensive documentation is valuable for process understanding and future enhancements.
Designing with intentionality is key, as every design element contributes to the final product's impact.
