Marharyta Rouba
Doctoral Candidate in Philosophy
Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
I am a doctoral candidate in the Chair of Classical German Philosophy at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, a DAAD doctoral fellow.
Before beginning my PhD studies at the Institute of Philosophy at HU Berlin, I graduated with distinction from Belarusian State University (Minsk, Belarus), specializing in the history of philosophy (Diploma of Higher Education, 2017; M.A., 2018). I spent research stays at Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena (2020–2021) and at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (2021), and officially enrolled as a doctoral candidate in October 2022. During my PhD studies, I have been participating in several international research colloquia in the fields of:
– Classical German Philosophy, HU Berlin (Prof. Dr. Tobias Rosefeldt, my primary supervisor);
– History of Philosophy, FU Berlin (Prof. Dr. Dina Emundts);
– Theoretical Philosophy and Early Modern Philosophy, HU Berlin (Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Dominik Perler).
My research interests are Kant’s theoretical philosophy, its early reception, and specific topics in contemporary metaphysics, meta-metaphysics, epistemology, and the philosophy of mind. In my ongoing doctoral dissertation, I am developing a novel realist and ontological interpretation of Kant’s concepts of the ‘transcendental subject’ and the ‘transcendental object’ within his distinctive theory of objects, conception of objectivity, and broader issues of cognition and self-consciousness.
Beyond academia, I am fascinated by art — broadly understood as the attempt to capture the boundless flow of life through sounds, visual forms, and words. And, of course, I am drawn to its catchers, who become larger than life.
