1st Grade Class

Welcome to our class page!

Have a wonderful summer! We will miss you!

On this web page you will find some great information about our classroom that we want you to know.

Important Information

School Day:

Our school day begins at 9:00 and it is very important for your child to be on time. When the children enter the room at 9:00, they will be working on their morning work. This will consist of skills that we have been working on that week or the previous week. In the past, when children are late, it seems as if they are playing “catch-up” all day. Morning work is expected to be completed shortly after announcements.

Absences:

If your child is absent, please, send a note explaining the absence on the next day that the child attends school. Also, expect your child to have make-up work. Due to the large number of skills that first graders are required to learn, we work everyday on new skills. Make-up work is expected to be returned promptly.

Lunch Money:

If possible, please pay for your child’s lunch ahead of time. The best is at the beginning of each week. Please put all lunch money in their money packet.

Snack:

Your child may bring a snack and drink (water) from home. In the past, we have had parents donate snacks to class. We keep them in a container and any child who doesn’t have a snack can get one from the snack bucket. If you want to donate snacks, we would greatly appreciate it. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle from home to keep at their desk.

Classroom Rules:

First graders are still young, we only have 4 rules that are easy for them to remember:

  1. Be Kind
  2. Always try
  3. Respect
  4. Have Fun

Birthdays:

Please send us a note if you plan to do something special.

We realize that you have been given an extensive amount of knowledge of what is expected in first grade. However, we feel that if parents and students know what it expected in the beginning, it eliminates a lot of problems. We are truly excited about this group of first grade children. We think that you are going to be pleasantly surprised with your child’s success, especially if you help at home. We look forward to the opportunity of partnering together with you this year.
