Presentation
Experienced BIM engineer, R&D and Digital Survey consultant, currently working for Lombardini22, one of the most important Italian architectural Firm based in Milan. Passionate about Digital skills, BIM management and coordination, Drones and Photography.
I got a master degree in Building Engineering and Architecture in Sapienza University of Rome in 2018. I worked as Visiting Ph.D. Researcher in Department of Mechanical Engineering, SDASL – Structural Dynamics & Acoustic Systems Laboratory and got a PhD in 2022 in Department of Civil, Constructional and Environmental Engineering.
My studies and work experiences gave an interdisciplinary knowledge of both engineering and building architecture aspects. My background gave a comprehensive framework of my actual research's interest and its practical outcomes.
I believe it is essential to translate academic research into professional activity. My practice as a Professional Engineer comprehended consultant positions in BIM management and coordination of italian relevant projects, and HBIM model management all starting from an integrated survey with Laser scanner and Digital Photogrammetry, drone-based for which I obtained the ONC pilot certificate.
I also worked on deepening BIM digital skills focused on Dynamo scripting for optimizing workflows and managing complex projects.
PhD and research topics:
My PhD research investigated the potential offered by Open Spaces in Built Environment for Disaster Risk Management (DRM). For this reason, factors influencing seismic risk have been investigated through a systematic literature review, and proper solutions are offered to digitalize Open Spaces data and deepen certain aspects at different scales, from the territorial to the constructive one. Notably, OpenStreetMaps as Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) and other national Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) are combined to extract significant geometric and informative data about Open Space in Geographic Information System (GIS). Moreover, a strategy for developing Open Spaces in Building Information Modeling (BIM) from photogrammetric and Terrestrial Laser Scanner (TLS) point cloud survey is presented. Therefore, a Level of Information Need for the Open Spaces system is defined to integrate GIS and BIM modeling environments by implementing five significant deepening levels.
Moreover, I studied the application of Motion Magnification (MM) technique in seismic vulnerability assessment. Specifically, MM allows amplifying the smallest movements of a structure, starting from a sequence of video frames and inside specific frequency bands. My research wants to extend this potential to heritage masonry construction vulnerability assessment, to have significant outputs on seismic response without actually reaching real damage of case study. The research implemented an empirical approach for the structural health assessment of masonry structure exploring the capabilities of the combination between BIM, 3D Digital Image Correlation (3D-DIC) and MM, transferring the vibrometry outputs obtained from a random excitation into BIM. The magnified videos and the quantification of the displacement allowed an intuitive interpretation of the deformation, facilitating behavior characterization.
My main research interests are:
Building Architecture (ICAR 10 - Architettura tecnica)
Digital Survey
VPL scripting
GIS
BIM
HBIM
Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE)
Structural Health Monitoring (SHM)
