Occitan

I have an interest in language documentation and the study of minoritised languages. Occitan, a Romance language spoken in the South of France, Italy, and Catalonia, is particularly interesting given that it is a bridge between Gallo-Romance, Italo-Romance, and Ibero-Romance, ultimately sharing features with the three subfamilies. My research so far has mainly focused on clitic placement with infinitives in 13th-century Occitan, and auxiliary switch in Modern Occitan.

I am co-convener for the Occitan Reading Group, which meets weekly, and where we read and translate Old and Modern Occitan texts. If you're in Oxford, you're very welcome to join! You don't need to have any prior knowledge of Occitan (though being familiar with a Romance language is recommended).

I also organise the Occitan Studies Day, an international, interdisciplinary, and multilingual conference that aims at fostering a collaborative atmosphere between Occitanists.
