Career Tech Programs

In 2014, we converted our Career Tech Programs to courses. The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) has broken down each program into multiple courses. The Courses are designed by Career Tech instructors, post secondary instructors, (including instructors from four year colleges and universities), and members of the business community.

Each instructor teaches a minimum of 4 courses during their two year Career Tech program. The courses selected by our career tech teachers are based on the needs of the community, using input from their local advisory team.

Each course is a minimum of 120 hours and a maximum of 280 hours.

Each course will have an end of course exam. If the student passes the exam they will be given a certificate of completion.

All courses are aligned with post secondary college credit through the Career-Technical Credit Transfer (CT)² program. This provides free college credit to the students that , through articulation agreements and dual enrollment.

We have 10 specialized programs, a 9th grade foundations exploratory program and Career Based Intervention Education options.

Of the 1191 students in the 8th through 12th grade, 649 will be in or exposed to Career Tech programs this school year (that’s 54%). Through the 9th Grade Foundations class almost every freshman student will visit each Career Tech program for a special career tech program preview.

Each of our programs provides over 1000 hours of training in the area of study selected. This gives the student a tremendous advantage for employment over the student that does not take a Career Tech class.

For those Career Tech students that want to go on and further their education, 11 of our programs offer free college credits. By the end of this school year, all programs will offer free college credits.

In addition, students can receive the following Licenses or Certifications, depending on their program of study, First Aid Certification, Communicable Disease training, CPR, Servsafe Certification, State Tested Nurses Aid Certification (STNA), CISCO- CCNA Certification, CompTia A+ and State Cosmetology License. These are available to students at no cost.

This years’ graduation rate for Career Tech Students was 91%.
