I really wanted an app of MangaDex, but every time i thought of searching if there are any development i thought of the fabled tale of MangaRock. In my mind it's MangaRock's way of asking for memberships and making money that got it shutdown, and the reason for MangaDex's lasting longer would be that it does not charge any money or does any ads, so it doesn't profit from the sanlations, thus making it seem as if it's just some (a lot of) friends sharing this manga they translated, with no intention of profitting from the author's works. However, i still shudder at the thought of it being shut down, due to laws surrounding scanlations being so vague, and thought if it made an app it would somehow alert the japanese people/government faster, due to japan's penchant for phone over pc usage. Am i right to worry, or will an app of MangaDex be ok for development in the future?

All this talk about how translated works having a negative impact on the manga industry in Japan is utter BS, considering the fact that there was no official alternative for most titles in the first place.

Manga (stylised as maNga) is a Turkish rock band whose music is mainly a fusion of Anatolian melodies with electronic elements. In 2009, they won both the Best Turkish Act award from MTV Turkey and consequently the Best European Act award from MTV Networks Europe in MTV Europe Music Awards 2009. They represented Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song "We Could Be the Same" and took second place.

maNga was formed in the year 2001. It was guitarist Yamur Sargl's idea to name the band after Japanese comics.[4] Initially, they were mostly underground, playing covers of other rock and metal bands. The band made the music for Ak Veysel's poem Kara Toprak, and later used a different poem by Gksel for the song which came to be known as Dursun Zaman (by the title of Gksel's poem "Dursun Zaman"). They came into the public spotlight after becoming runner-up at the Sing your song music contest. This caught the attention of artist manager Hadi Elazzi (GRGDN), who immediately promoted the band to Sony Music, which resulted in their first, self-titled album being published in 2004, becoming a hit.[5] Following this, they performed at various music festivals and have worked with various famous Turkish singers as Koray Candemir (of Kargo fame), Vega and Gksel. On 13 August 2006, maNga became the first Turkish rock band to take stage at the Sziget Festival, Budapest, Hungary. In 2006 they also had concerts in the Netherlands and Germany. Most of their songs are written by the group members. The genre of their music was described by Yamur, the author of most of the songs, as blending nu metal and hip hop in a "pot" with melodies of Anatolia. maNga's duet with Gksel is included in one of the most successful (with almost a million viewers[6]) Turkish films, Snav (featuring Jean-Claude Van Damme).[7][8] Their song Bir kadn izeceksin was featured among the music of the FIFA 06 game. The band headlined several Turkish music festivals, including Saklfest,[9] Patlcan,[10] Rokofest[11] and Rock'n Coke. The band was to take stage in the Wembley Stadium in London, together with Tarkan, but maNga did not perform due to technical difficulties on 13 April 2008.[12] They also played in London's O2 Academy Islington on 4 December 2009. On 12 January 2010 the Turkish broadcaster TRT announced that maNga would be the Turkish representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010.[13] They came second with 170 points, behind Germany.[14]

Up until December of 2016, Manga Rock had been just an aggregator, pulling manga from more than 20 different sources all over the internet, across multiple languages. It focused on the mobile reading experience and the convenience of switching between sources. In essence, it was categorized as a utility or a tool.

First, we attempted to hire an outsource company to do data inputting for more than 16,000 manga titles, using our internal CMS. When we received their work, it was a complete mess, so we paid them one more time to go in and fix their mistakes, and everything still ended in a mess.

In the tweets, Takahashi described the Manga Rock app for Japanese speakers. (The app was region-blocked for users is Japan.) Not only did Manga Rock share illegal scans of numerous manga series, the app also had a paid subscription service that cost US$4.99 per month. Due to this and the legitimacy the app gained from being hosted on the Google Play Store and the App Store, Takahashi argued that many users of the app were unaware that it was an illegal service.

Manga Rock launched in 2010. The app allowed users to read manga chapters online or download them for offline viewing. The disclaimer for the app stated: "All manga, character, and logos belong to their respective copyright owners." It also claimed that Not A Basement Studio does not have any affiliation with the website that hosted the unauthorized manga scans.

They built an app named Manga Rock which provided scanlations of popular Japanese mangas on the iPhone. The app became so popular among manga fans as it was completely free contrary to VIZ media, which offers subscription service. They subsequently released the app for iPad and other platforms.

Manga Rock, no its nothing to do with Japanese comics, was an old boundary stone which still carries the GP markings for Gidleigh Parish. Some say it was also on the Dartmoor Forest perambulation in the 1200s but the location of the stone and the perambulation points either side do not quite match up. Either way Manga Rock sits on the side of Manga Hill (not at the top) overlooking the North Teign river and Gidleigh Common below. The views to the east are excellent but higher ground (Watern Tor) sits westwards preventing views that way. The easiest way to this rock is approaching from Fernworthy Forest which takes you easily to Teignhead Farm it is then a short pathless walk to the rock. Manga Rock is not in any of the military firing zones, although Okehampton range is half a mile west.
