The Philippines is a maritime and archipelagic country composed of more than 7,000 islands with more than 14,000 coastal communities highly dependent on marine resources for living. As a maritime nation, it is imperative for every Filipino to carry out initiatives and be informed on how to protect the country's maritime interests and resources from various maritime threats. To attain this, the government issued Proclamation No. 316 declaring the month of September of every year as the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo). The MANA Mo is a platform that synchronizes the celebration of all maritime-related events and activities in a single month to achieve a sense of unity and pride among Filipinos in addressing the threats to the coastal and marine environment toward preserving the Philippine maritime heritage.

Maritime Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo) 2023 - participated by agencies and instrumentalities of the National Government, including government-owned or controlled corporations and local government units, as well as the private sector - raises awareness and consciousness on maritime and archipelagic concerns of the Philippines.
