Atlantic City has always been about entertainment, but in recent years, the city has become a must-stop location for popular Jersey shore events such as top musical acts in concert, championship boxing matches, celebrity sightings, family-friendly Boardwalk Hall events, and more.

Edwards-Helaire is officially listed as questionable but should be able to go Sunday, despite missing practices Thursday and Friday. Isiah Pacheco (shoulder) is also listed as questionable but is expected to play after clearing concussion protocol, so Edwards-Helaire will likely be working in a change-of-pace capacity in Week 17. After Jerick McKinnon (groin) was placed on injured reserve last week, Edwards-Helaire stepped in as Pacheco's top backup in the Chiefs' 20-14 loss to the Raiders on Christmas Day, playing 29 snaps while carrying four times for six yards and catching three passes for 42 yards.

Due to reports of scheduled protests downtown, some City of Asheville facilities will close today, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. All facilities will re-open after the Veterans Day Holiday on Monday, Nov. 13. These closures include:

The Mayor announced a January 31, 2024 deadline for the finalists to submit evidence of support. The city is already giving homeowners in the proposed areas firm dollar offers if their community is selected so they can evaluate whether to support the plan.

Subsidence has been occurring where New York City now sits since the end of the last ice age. As the ice sheets retreated, the land once covered by the ice, north of the city, began to rise and the land that was just south of the ice, where New York City is today, began to sink. That response to melting of the ice sheets continues today.

The results indicate that in recent years, all of New York City is sinking about 1 to 2 millimeters per year due to post-glacial relaxation. However, some parts of the city, particularly where buildings are built on fill and sediment, are sinking faster, up to 4 millimeters per year. While the massive weight of the buildings causes some of the subsidence, not all of the increased subsidence rate can be directly attributed to the buildings. According to the study, subsidence due to buildings usually stops within a year or two of construction. Continuation of subsidence past that time is largely due to other processes, such as withdrawal of groundwater. In a city where sea level is projected to rise between 8 and 30 inches by 2050, the additional subsidence only increases its vulnerability to coastal storms.

The Santa Ana City Council has agreed to accept the resignation of its City Manager, effective today, Monday, October 9, 2023. By a vote of 6-1, with the Mayor Pro Tem voting no, the City Council accepted the resignation and approved a severance and release agreement, as provided for in the employment agreement. 2351a5e196
