Harry Norwood

Harry Norwood was born in 1892 in Killamarsh, in the district of Chesterfield. He was the son of Thomas Norwood and Elizabeth Hannah (Ward).

In 1901, eight years old Harry is living with his parents and younger siblings, George E. aged 6, Edna M. aged 3, and Arthur B. aged 9 months. The family are living at number 65 High Street, Killamarsh, Derbyshire.

By 1911, Harry is recorded as an 18 years old Coal Miner with his parents, and siblings George Edric Norwood aged 16, Edna Mary aged 13, Arthur Baden aged 10, and Henrietta aged 6. Also present are Harry's aunts, Henrietta Norwood, and Mary Jane Norwood. The family are living at number 68 Leeming Lane, Mansfield Woodhouse, Notts.

Harry was married in the third quarter of 1916 in the district of Mansfield to Kate Goodwin. Kate was born in 1895 in Swinton, in the district of Rotherham. She was the daughter of James and Kate Goodwin.

The birth of daughter Edna M. Norwood was registered in the 1st quarter of 1917 in Mansfield district. Second child George E. Norwood was registered 4th quarter 1918 in Rotherham district, followed by Thomas R. Norwood in the 1st quarter of 1921.

In 1921, Harry is recorded as a Colliery Deputy (underground). He is living with his wife Kate, and children Edna Mary, George Edric, and Thomas Ronald. The family are living at number 5 Victoria Street, Maltby, Rotherham.

Their fourth child Elizabeth K. Norwood, would never see her father Harry as her birth was registered in the 4th quarter of 1923, some months after Harry's death.
