Andrew Cribbis was born in 1903 in Dalkeith, Scotland, the son of Andrew and Catherine Cribbis. Andrew Cribbis (senior) and Catherine Black had married in 1900 in Dalkeith, Scotland.

By 1911, the family are in England, and Andrew and Catherine Cribbis are with their children: Jennet H. Cribbis aged 9, Andrew Cribbis aged 8, William Black Cribbis aged 6, John Cribbis aged 4, James Black Cribbis aged 2, and Margaret Ellen Cribbis aged 1 year. They are living at 6 Clara Street, Newcastle on Tyne.
In 1921 the family have moved again to Maltby, Yorkshire. Andrew Cribbis Snr. Is a 45 years old coal miner at Maltby Main Colliery. Wife Catherine is aged 42. they are with their children: Jennet H. aged 19. Andrew, 18 years old Haulage Hand at Maltby Main Colliery, William, 16 years old Haulage Hand, John, 14 years old Miner, James aged 12, Margaret aged 10, and Thomas aged 7 years. The family are living at number 8 Jellicoe Terrace, Maltby.
In December 1921, 18 years old Andrew Cribbis was accidentally killed in Maltby Main Colliery. His death was registered in December 1921 in Doncaster.
