Since the Adult Guest Program is utilized extensively, we ask that you notify us immediately if you have a change in plans and cannot be with us.

Each week we have designated Adult Guest Host and Yacht Host couples who will be at the Malibu Club for the whole week and will serve as a resource for the adult guests and medical team. They will be in contact with the guests and medical team directly. Feel free to contact the office with any questions you may have that are not answered below.

Please note that we do not have the facilities for pets or children to join adult guests or the hosts. The medical volunteers are encouraged to bring their immediate family.

ACCOMMODATION

Adult Guests

Adult guests generally stay in the Harbour House, a floating guest accommodation comprised of 5 guest suites, a communal kitchen upstairs, and a communal lounge on the main floor. The Harbour House is adjacent to the Sequoia Club Room, and faces the Inner Harbour area of camp to provide an excellent vantage point to view the campers' free-time in full swing. Each of the five rooms has a private washroom with a shower and basic hotel amenities.  Additional rooms are available on the Suivoolot Deck and offer similar accommodations.

Adult Guest Hosts

The Adult Guest Hosts usually stay in a one-bedroom suite that has a private washroom with shower and basic hotel amenities on the Suivoolot deck, which is the third floor above Main Street. The Suivoolot deck has a communal lounge with kitchenette.

Medical Volunteers

The medical volunteers and their immediate family will stay in one of the two bedroom suites that has a private washroom with shower and basic hotel amenities on the Suivoolot deck, the third floor above Main Street. The infirmary is located on Main Street. The Suivoolot deck has a communal lounge with kitchenette.

Yacht Hosts

The Yacht Hosts stay in one of our original cabins called Sioux that overlooks the Inner Harbour to be able to see any boat traffic arriving at the dock for a tour. It has an ensuite washroom with shower and basic hotel amenities and a private outdoor deck.

TRAVEL

There are two options for getting to the Malibu Club.

Malibu is accessible only by water and there are no roads.

Travelling by Boat

For those arriving by boat, follow the directions of the three steps to get to Malibu.

Your assigned vessel and departure time will be sent to you via email within 10 days prior to your arrival.

Travelling by Float Plane

Kenmore Air from Lake Washington in Seattle is the only option of an existing scheduled flight directly to Malibu Club in the Princess Louisa Inlet. You may book flights by visiting their website linked above or by calling (866) 435-9524.   They will be requiring a minimum of 4 passengers for any flights to the Malibu Club and those flights only service camp on our actual camp arrival and departure dates.

All other providers (Harbour Air, Sunshine Coast Air, Tofino Air) will be charters to reach Malibu Club in the Princess Louisa Inlet. Harbour Air has seasonal flights to the BackEddy marina (next door to the Malibu Landing) in Egmont where you could spend the night before then connect with the Princess departure the first day of camp.

Please note the Princess departs at 1:00 PM from the Malibu Landing unless otherwise specified.

LIFE AT CAMP

Communication Infrastructure at Camp

Due to the remote location, communication in and out of camp is very limited. Please let us know if you will need to discuss prior to your arrival any imperative phone use needs you have.

Activities

On a day-to-day basis, you will be given the opportunity to observe as well as participate in Young Life's unique ministry with High School students. You will have the opportunity to

Schedule

The Young Life assigned Program team will set the daily schedule for the campers, and the rest of life in camp revolves around that program. Generally, the schedule will include 3 meals a day, an activity in the morning with camp, free time and Club at night.

The full week schedule will be posted in the Adult Guest Lounges. Adult Guests will be guided by their Hosts through the days' activities and will often join in. There will also be scheduled times for the adult guest program participants to experience some of the "cabin activities" that the campers do, like the Ropes Challenge Course or the Giant Swing.

Meals

The dining room volunteers serve three meals a day in the incomparable Sechelt Dining Room, cantilevered over the Malibu Rapids at the mouth of the Princess Louisa Inlet. Adult Guests eat together alongside their Hosts at the same time as the campers to be able to enjoy the energy and program provided for them.  Meals are served family style at set times and are full meals.

Any special diets to address health concerns can be reported on the Online Health Form (section below).

Stores

Throughout the day, our retail department will have some of the stores open. The schedules vary and are determined by the camper activity schedule.

All major credit cards are accepted in all areas of camp.

Health Care

For US residents, since you will be in a different country, any US medical insurance will not be able to be direct billed at Canadian medical facilities. If something were to happen and you needed to leave Malibu for required medical assistance at a hospital or clinic in Canada, you will need to pay for the services up-front and then submit those bills to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please contact your insurance company if you have questions about what your insurance will cover outside of your home country. It is highly advisable to get travel insurance anytime you leave your home country, check with your insurance company to see if you are already covered for international travel or whether you need extra coverage.

Smoking is allowed only in one designated smoking area. All Young Life camps are dry properties and no alcoholic beverages, drugs or vapes/e-cigarettes are allowed.

EMERGENCY CONTACT INFO FOR CAMP

You may leave the camp number and email with those who may need to contact you in the case of an emergency, (778) 331-7944 and malibuclub@malibu.younglife.org.
