I have been trying to use Voicemeeter Asio as input/output but when I choose it in preferences I get no input and am unable to play any previously recorded files. I am using VM-VAIO 1 and VM-Vaio 2 which was recommended on Voicemeeter forum.

Previously I had been using my soundcard SoundblasterX AE-5 Asio in/out and that was working fine. I have spent a lot of time(which I have right now!) trying to make this work but with no success.

My reason for using Voicemeeter is to record other inputs not available thru the soundcard.

The whole eLicenser process was quite time consuming but finally I had it installed, just to find out that it does not recognize the internal Audio out and thus does not playback. I then found out that I have installed the Intel version of that program and that there is no option to run it under Rosetta.

The good news is that within about a week or so, WaveLab 11.1 (Pro and Elements) will be released and will be M1 native, with the option to run in Rosetta mode if you want to for older plugin reasons.

I just purchased Wavelab Elements 8 and found out that there is no option for DDP. This makes Wavelab almost useless for me I should have checked the comparison list before buying. My mistake. I thought that DDP would be such essential that it would include with the packet.

You can get very similar software for the same price as Wavelab Elements with DDP. Hofa-mastering plug in and Quattro audio mastering software would be a better option compared to Wavelab if you need DDP ability.

Sorry, I totally missed that picture link. So it looks like a mixup with either a Cubase or Wavelab LE version and the other software being a full version. So Bob and Mike, the other thing you have in common is you both use Windows 7?

I wonder if you have the same issue that I had - when installing WL11 elements did you choose to copy the WL10 settings? I did this and it did not work well. I uninstalled and then installed again and chose not to copy the settings. The sound worked fine after this. Also opening previous WL projects was problematic. This was on WL11 pro but I think it might be the same in elements.

One more thing, most likely not related to your case, but you have not opened any old master section presets from WL10 as part of the process? I tried using a master section preset from WL10 today. It does not work well but produces all sorts of peculiar behaviour. I got sound but e.g. the level meter only showed level intermittently. Maybe the master section presets which got loaded when I opened the WL10 montage were the cause of the initial problems I saw taking place when trying WL11 for the first time. I opened the same montage today without any of the WL10 master section plugins and it worked just fine.

I have exactly the same problem as Cubasis. If I modify the output I am left without sound. If I reselect the initial outputs there is no sound either. If I close and reopen WaveLab the sound is recovered regardless of the selected output. If I try to change the output again the problem reappears.

The problem happens only if you reopen the audio connection dialog before quitting WaveLab Elements.

In that case, you simply have to quit WaveLab Elements and relaunch it, without needing to open the audio connection dialog.

I have just solved the problem I was having with the audio driver, by reinstalling Wavelab Elements 11 and selecting to uninstall the generic low latency driver actually solved everything. Cubase 11 Pro now see the correct Roland Studio Capture driver as does Wavelab Elements 11.

I thought to myself that for just 99 Euro its worth the upgrade. And boy , what an upgrade it was . Installation was a breeze and registration was just as easy . Steinberg is still using their USB dongle piracy protection for their software , which I am totally on board for . As this means as long as you have an already used USB dongle (as I got one with Cubase ) it will register Wavelab onto that USB. This is so easy compared to other software piracy protectors , Arturia comes to mind with their limited amounts of activations and way to activate their plug-ins is a nightmare.

Once it installed and I booted it up for the first time I immediately noticed a HUGE difference from the previous version I was using . Straight off the bat it looks modern and sleek. Gone are those horrible greys, Wavelab is now draped in gun metal black. This is because of Wavelab's new high DPI support of high-resolution displays throughout the whole application. And the user interface is very easy to navigate , transport bar is now in the bottom middle, your master volume is now on the right and is small and not taking massive space on your screen. Their new Spectrogram is now customizable and you can change the colours, the view of it , etc. I always had a problem with version 6, I could never get my recordings to be monitored through my speakers, it drove me nuts. For years I thought it was my soundcard. Upon installation of 9.5 there was no need to to adjust the audio settings. Eveything was already mapped out and I was 'good-to-go' to start recording. And guess what , monitoring is now working. So I can now listen to my mixes being recorded live , instead of just on the headphones

Overall Steinberg have outdone themselves with Wavelab Elements 9.5. For a measly 99 Euro you can get fantastic software that's more than suitable for your recording needs and even get away with some basic mastering, if that's what you're looking for. The plug-ins included are powerful and easy to use. I highly recommend this piece of amazing software to anyone looking to improve the quality of their audio recordings or anyone looking to start mastering their own tracks.

Just confirming that I encountered the same problem, with slightly different steps. I opened the Audio Connection settings first, BEFORE even trying to play any audio.

I played an MP3 file, and saw the same activity as you, with no audio output.

After quitting and restarting Wavelab, I got audio output right away without any further changes.

I checked the behavior today again, and still reproducibly with the original release. After installing the 11.0.10 update, the problem is gone and resolved (for me).

a) from a HW input from MADI (ADI-642, ..) ?

Then you should be able to see the audio signal in TM FX of this HW input

and record from it with Wavelab with the proper ASIO driver loaded.

b) from OS/application with or without ASIO support ?

Then you need to use loopback similar to me an a MADI HW Output channel

and record the loopbacked audio signal from the corresponding MADI HW input channel.
