Malaysian passports are issued by our Immigration Department at the High Commission in London and sent to this Embassy via registered mail. Customs clearing can take up to a few weeks. Therefore, the processing time for new passport applications is approximately eight to ten weeks. We recommend ensuring sufficient time is factored in ahead of your planned trip to receive your new passport on time. If you wish to expedite the application, please inform the Embassy.

Once we have received your online form via ImmAccount, including Form 1554: ETA request for further processing , a copy of your passport biodata page and your other supporting documents, we will consider your application. IMPORTANT NOTICE: We no longer accept handwritten passport application forms. You must fill out all passport application forms online at www.travel.state.gov and then print them. Please have all forms completed prior to your appointment and bring originals and copies of all supporting documents.

Applications to renew a damaged passport via mail may be accepted at our discretion if all the identifying information is still legible. If the photograph or identifying information is illegible, or the passport is significantly damaged, please refer to the information regarding Lost/Stolen/Damaged passports.

After you have completed the online form and paid the fee, you must send your new passport with a copy of your application confirmation email to Immigration New Zealand. Further instructions will be provided to you after you have completed the online form.

1. An applicant for a new passport must duly complete a passport application form and return it with four passport-sized photographs (except for Biometric passports) and other relevant documents, e.g. birth certificate, Expired/current passport.

If you change a new passport of the same nationality, you will need to update your new passport details in your REP promptly using the transfer of REP function. Please note that the checkpoint may only accord you clearance as a PR if you have a valid REP with the updated passport details at the point of entry. If your REP is not in order, please inform the immigration officer of your PR status.

All passports are printed in Denmark. Thus, it takes approximately 3-5 weeks before you can pick up your new passport at the Embassy or at a nearby Danish consulate. For further information, please contact the Danish Mission.

When your new passport has arrived, the Mission or nearby Danish consulate will notify you directly. After the notification, please contact the Mission to schedule an appointment in order to collect the passport.

IMPORTANT: Please remember to bring the old passport for cancellation. If you have valid visas or residence permits in your old passport, kindly inform the Mission accordingly. Always check with the local authorities whether your visa and/or residence permit can be transferred to a new passport.

It is preferable for both custodial parents and the child (irrespective of age) to appear in person at the Mission when submitting the passport application in order to sign the consent form and for the Mission to check the ID of the parents.

Please check before coming to the Danish Mission whether the country you wish to travel to accepts an extension of the passport validity and how many months they require the travel document to be valid for from the day of entry. You can find a guide to this information on the homepage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (in Danish only).

The fee for extending the validity of a passport is currently DKK 1,125 (2023 rates). The fee for an extension of passport issued outside the opening hours of the Mission/consulate is currently DKK 2,265 (2023 rates). The fee for an extension of passport issued on official closing days of the Mission/consulate is currently DKK 3,750 (2023 rates). The fee is payable upon application directly to the Danish Mission and can be paid in local currency. The Mission can inform what the equivalent is in your currency.

Please check before coming to the Danish Mission whether the country you are travelling to or from accepts emergency/provisional passports, as not all countries accept a provisional passport. The loss of your passport should immediately be reported to the local police as well as to the nearest Danish Mission. You may need the police report in order to obtain exit permit when you leave the country and/or you may need the police report in order to file a claim with your insurance company. When you apply for an emergency passport, you must submit a passport application form, one passport photo and any identification documents as well as complete a declaration at the Danish Mission or affiliated consulate stating the circumstances under which the passport was lost. Please ensure that the photo meets the requirements for passport photos.

When you bring your old passport for cancellation, kindly inform the Danish Mission or affiliated consulate of any valid visas or residence permits in the old passport, in order to ensure that these are not cancelled. A cross reference to the old passport may also be made in your new passport. Always check with the local authorities whether your visa and/or residence permit will still be valid once a passport expires and whether they can be transferred to a new passport.

Why must I travel to a Danish Embassy for renewal of my Danish passport?

Due to the requirement of biometric data in the passport as well as access to registers in Denmark in order to obtain and protect data, Danish passports can be renewed or applied for only at a Danish Embassy.

In a few countries, it may be possible to apply for a Danish passport at an affiliated consulate, even if you are above the age of 12 years. Please see under Practical Information whether this is an option in your country of residence.

Malaysian citizens can expect their ETIAS application to normally be processed and approved within minutes, and the authorisation is sent by email in the form of a PDF document. There is no need to print or present any documents as the ETIAS is stored electronically against the passport details stored in the European Immigration system.

The Immigration Department pledges to complete the processing of applications in 5 working days after receiving all necessary documents, application fees and photographs, and in 10 working days for applications from children aged under 11 not holding a Hong Kong permanent identity card (working days denote Monday to Friday excluding General Holidays). In general, applicants can obtain the new passport on the next working day after the completion of the processing by the Immigration Department. For applications not submitted in person (e.g. via drop-in box), an extra two to three working days may be required. The processing time may be longer for passport application due to loss, damage or amendment of personal particulars. The time for despatching the prepared passport from HKSAR to Chinese Diplomatic and Consular Missions / the Immigration Divisions of the Mainland Offices is excluded from the processing time listed above. The mail service for passport delivery is provided by the Hong Kong Post and the availability of mail service varies by country/region. Whether this pledge can be met will also depend on the circumstances of individual applications and the number of applications received at a particular time. If applicants have any travel plans, they should apply early.

Eligible applicants can submit their applications through the Internet or the Immigration Department Mobile Application (except for replacement of a passport which has been lost/damaged/defaced/is not available or amendment of personal particulars in a passport) if they are able to collect their new passports in person at the selected Immigration Office or the Chinese Diplomatic and Consular Mission or the Immigration Divisions of the Mainland Offices. For children aged below 16 and unmarried persons aged 16 or 17, the consenting parent or legal guardian must accompany the child/applicant for collection of the passport in person so as to sign the application form.

Applicants should bring along the original supporting documents when submitting the application in person. In case of postal or drop-in application, applicants should submit the application form, photograph and cheque together with photocopies of supporting documents, except photocopy/ photocopies of Hong Kong identity card(s), on A4-size paper (i.e. 210 mm X 297 mm). Please note that the photocopies will not be returned.
