Dr. Malak A. Abdullah

W.P. Kinsella once said, "Success is getting what you want; happiness is wanting what you get." I believe I achieved success and happiness when I decided to study in the field of computer science. I am currently an Associate professor in the computer science department at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), Jordan. I received my BSc and MSc degrees in computer science with EXCELLENT GPAs from JUST. Thus, I was awarded a scholarship to pursue a Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, USA. As a faculty member in the computer science department, I have taught 20 bachelor's and master's degree courses for all levels. The courses include artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, C++, Java, object-oriented, data structures and algorithms. I have supervised 11 master's students' theses and 12 graduation projects. My research interests center around Machine Learning, Sentiment Analysis, Programming Languages, Data Mining, Natural Language Processing, Algorithms, Deep Learning, and Artificial Intelligence. I have published over 35 papers in reputable academic journals, conferences, and workshops. Furthermore, I was and still am a member of several university-level committees. In addition, I served as a vice director and deputy head of the Information Technology & Communications Center at JUST from 2019 to 2020. I coached several programming teams at JUST to give them the appropriate guidance and direction in every aspect of their education. I traveled with my teams to different countries as a coach to participate in the ACM programming contests of the Arab Collegiate Programming Contest (ACPC). As a Jordanian woman in computing, I greatly support female students' involvement in this field and encourage them to participate in programming contests. Finally, Alhamdulillah, all Praise and thanks are due to Allah, who proclaimed, ‪"If you give thanks, I will give you more; but if you are ungrateful, my punishment is severe." Quran 14:7.
