Last week, we were approached by a client from Canada, Ontario, who wanted to take professional product photos of their makeup brushes. Having had a poor experience working with local traditional photography studios, they started looking online for an alternative.

One of the main goals we helped them achieve was improving their visibility on amazon.com. CGI photography has lots of advantages over other types of image capturing, and this was the factor that made our collaboration with the Canadian beauty brand a fruitful one.

I love it overall. I use it all the time. At home and when I travel. But I wish the sponge was interchangeable with a sponge like the others on the market. I also wish we could replace it like a refill as sponges do need to be changed I believe. I mainly use it to blend in my concealer, but an optional brush for full face blending would be amazing.

For Fresh Perfecting Blender: Rinse through with lukewarm water after each use. Deep clean once per week with makeup sponge cleanser. Dab on a dot of your favorite makeup sponge cleanser. Add water and gently squeeze to lather. Rinse the sponge with water. Air dry thoroughly in a well-ventilated area. Store in a cool, dry place. For EcoTools Makeup Brushes: Run the bristles of makeup brush under warm running water. Careful not to get the ferrules and handles wet. Apply a drop of gentle EcoTools Brush Cleansing Shampoo to bristles and work into a light lather. Rinse bristles thoroughly under warm running water. Continue rinsing until water runs clear. Use a cloth to absorb excess water and reshape the bristle. Lay your makeup brushes flat and leave to air dry.Do not use on irritated, damaged or broken skin. If irritation develops, discontinue use immediately. For Fresh Perfecting Blender: Replace sponge every 30 days. For EcoTools Makeup Brushes: Replace every 12 months. Bacteria can grow on sponges and brushes due to exposure to makeup, oils, and impurities. EcoTools recommends replacing your makeup tools to ensure highest quality performance and application.

Whether you have brushes with natural hair bristles or a set of synthetics, proper cleaning usually takes less than a minute per tool and has benefits beyond purely hygienic ones. Cleaning your brushes prolongs their lifespan, and clean tools help makeup apply more smoothly. (The same applies when cleaning makeup sponges, too.)

With makeup-cleansing wipes, it takes just a few seconds to clean each brush you use around your eyes and/or with liquid makeup. And it takes less than a minute to deep-clean each of your tools with soap and water. Air-drying, though, can take several hours.

Rinse the bristles in lukewarm water until they run clean. Try to avoid letting water seep into the ferrule or the brush handle. Substantial water intrusion could cause your brush to fall apart, Casper said. You can expedite the drying process by gently squeezing water out of the bristles. To minimize shedding and fraying, be sure not to pull on the bristles as you squeeze them.

I found that shorter movements and a swirly motion helped to eliminate any visible brush strokes. You can experiment with the patina effect and go for more contrast by letting the base coat show through, or a subtler look by adding more layers of gold (including multiple colors, if you choose).

I would give the Rub n Buff silver leaf a shot for a subtle vintage look. If you want more of a chrome/metallic newer looking finish, try using a metallic spray paint. I always google the color first to find real life photos before purchasing!

A standard brush is usually made of three parts, the fibres, the ferrule, and the handle. Most of the time, the different parts of the brush are glued together, and a brush manufacturer can use as much as 130 tonnes of glue per year.

Considering this is a natural and organic makeup and skincare brand, I think the sticks are as pigmented and buildable as other non-natural or organic makeup lines on the market. Read on to see more of my thoughts on the Crystal Contour Collection.

I like to drag this stick in the hollows of my cheekbones, along my temples and hairline, and along my jawline. Then I use a stiff makeup brush (the Ogee Blender Brush is perfect for this) to blend it all in.

I'll be honest, I don't know if there's any advice that Katie Jane Hughes could give that I wouldn't follow. Known for her ability to create incredibly dewy makeup looks, she's worked with people like Hailey Bieber, Ashley Graham, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. All of this is to say that any tip that this makeup artist shares is treated like a tiny piece of gold to me.

However, I recognize that not everyone may feel the same and nowhere was that most apparent than in the comment section of one of her most recent TikTok videos. In it, Hughes explained to her followers how to "prime" their brushes to properly apply foundation, a technique that she has become synonymous with. To combat any issues blending your base products, she recommends taking your makeup brush and swirling it around in your foundation to thoroughly coat the bristles in formula. She typically uses the hack with liquid or cream products, but it can also work for powders, as well.

Following Hughes's video, I pumped some of my foundation into my hand and swirled the bristles of the brush around in it. I won't lie, the process felt a little counter-intuitive as it appeared I was blending the foundation into my hand the more I swirled, but I kept going. To my surprise, when I went to buff the foundation onto my skin, not only was there a good amount of product on the face, but the coverage level was not at all compromised.

After one pass, I still felt like there was too much product left behind on my hand, so for the next test, I did sort of an upward scraping motion to make sure I was getting as much as possible on my brush. That's when the magic happened. Not only was I able to cover a larger surface area because there was more product in the bristles but I also felt it helped give me a smooth, even finish.

Second, I'll be using a more flexible and fluffy brush to apply my foundation. Though it's pricey, I have adored the Westman Atelier Blender Brush ($125) ever since I started using it about a year ago. I recommend using a higher-quality brush for something like this because the swirling motion can actually be really hard on the bristles of the brush itself and the ferrule, which is the metal part between the hairs and the handle. Still, if you're looking for something more affordable, the NYX Multipurpose Face Brush ($17) could also be a good option.

All in all, I'll definitely be using this hack moving forward to give myself the skin-like makeup application that Hughes seems to achieve so effortlessly. It's easy to do, and pending a few adjustments, I can't recommend it enough to try.

However, for some of your larger jars, you may want to add a little filler to help your brushes stand up and not fall over. For this, I used some vase filler from Hobby Lobby, or you could pick similar ones up from Amazon!

Every collection needs an angled brush! This one makes applying blush, contour or bronzer a piece of cake. The smaller width makes it easy to work right under your cheekbones with a contour shade, and the brushes have just enough give to layer and blend product.

On one end of the brush (not pictured), you have the same head from the Angled Brush, while on the other you have this smaller dense brush for precise sculpting. I like using the pictured end to apply contour while using the angled end to blend and add blush.
