January 2020

Back to school starting a new year means fresh projects!

Pre-k friends used "Mat Man" and the mat man song from our Handwriting with out tears curriculum to help remember body parts and to create their own mat people!

After learning all about artist Alexander Calder, Kindgardin artists made a mobile in the shape of a fish out of wire and beads!

First Grade traveled back in time to some of the most decorative, pastel, colored, soft and bright art known as Rococo . We are creating these fancy fans popular in europe in the 18th century!

Second graders are learning about print making , by printing their very own "FIsh & Chips"! While many had heard of the meal "Fish & Chips" most didn't know it came from England as a quick grab and go fast food style meal. Students printed their "chips" with sponges and lightly carved a fish into a styrofoam piece they used to make their fish print.

Fourth Grade

Fourth grader learned about Artist Alexander Calder and a type of sculpture he developed called a stabile. Students recreated his vision with paper. Students focused on physical balance as well as visual balance using colors and contrasting shapes to provide visual interest.

Fifth Grade

Fifth grade is jumping right into Paper Mache! The project is to make a paper mache "dodo" bird that stands and balances on it's own. Students are learning how to make an armature and problem solving the issue of getting their birds to balance. These are in progress currently.
