2nd Gen Nest Mini: This generation has no button so you need to turn off the mic on the side of the device then press and hold the center of your nest mini. It will say "Release button to cancel" but just keep your finger on it until it says it is done the factory reset.

Spotify (Premium account) keeps stopping randomly when I play through Google Nest Mini. I have determined it is only a spotify issues. Sometimes it can play several songs, sometimes it will stop after 1 song, sometimes mid-song. Sometimes after 30 seconds. It's very random. I have had this issue since day 1 of buying my Google Nest mini

After the connection drops to google nest mini, I get the error message from "sorry, something went wrong, please try again later". I have contacted google support. They helped me determine it's only a Spotify issue and that they are aware of it.

After testing audio streaming with my Google Nest Audio speakers via Spotify Connect for many days I am very sure now that at least in my scenario the cause for those audio drop outs is only related to WiFi quality (signal strength and also data rate in Mbit/s).

I figured out that for whatever reason Spotify needs a much more stable connection than other audio streaming services (Youtube Music Premium worked perfectly right away). I also tested low audio quality setting with Spotify at the beginning but there were interruptions too. Also the bitrate for the nest audio devices shown in my router (300 Mbit/s roughly out of 433 Mbit/s) seemed ok to me since it was just for audio streaming I thought.

Solution:

After switching back to my repeater LAN bridge setup (WiFi access point connected to a Ethernet cable in the same room) the issue was gone right away and stayed that way. Signal strength was -72dBm before and -55dBm after switching to LAN Bridge setup (+ full 433 Mbit/s data rate). Also WiFi antennas of those smart speakers are probably quite weak, Nest Mini might be even worse.

Different tests with repeaters:

Since I needed to put the repeater back to the original place (1 floor below) my plan was to replace the existing repeater Fritz Repeater 1750E by the new 2400 model. Unfortunately that didn't work out. WiFi range was only slightly better and not enough for Spotify. Also using the 2 repeaters in a row did not work out. Signal strength was better but data throughput / latency was not good enough).

So if you live in a house with several floors with the router in the basement and you want to stream music via Spotify to your smart speakers in the top floor it's probably not a good idea As long as you don't mind spending some extra time and money for repeaters / access points. Not sure how I decide but I don't want to have / buy some additional access point in my room just for listening to Spotify via my speakers. Maybe good old headphones again.

I noticed the 2nd generation of the Google Nest Mini is now really cheap at $29, but I had to find that page via a Google search ( _nest_mini?hl=en-US ). When visiting the Google Store directly (which I originally did), I could not find the Google Nest Mini anywhere. More so, when you visit the store and ask it to compare products, you see the page missing other products ( _nest_speakers_displays?toggler2=nest_hub_max&toggler3=nest_hub&toggler4=google_home_max&toggler6=nest_hub_max&hl=en-US ). My guess is those other products were discontinued and so there is nothing to compare.

The speaker preserves the details of your favorite tunes with clarity that has to be heard to be appreciated. Distortion at high volumes is minimal. Google engineered the Mini so it can be played loud.

The Apple HomePod mini is a better choice for music and videos than the Google Nest Mini, as its default sound profile is better balanced with a more extended low-bass, and it has a better soundstage performance. That said, the Google offers bass and treble adjustments so you can customize its sound to your liking. The Apple comes with Siri built-in, while the Google features Google Assistant.

The Google Nest Mini has disappointing frequency response accuracy. Its sound profile is quite balanced and neutral, especially in the mid and treble ranges where vocals and lead instruments are reproduced. However, it lacks low-bass, so you don't feel the deep thump and rumble from bass-heavy music like EDM. Fortunately, there are bass and treble adjustment features in the app to help you customize its sound. For a speaker with a better-balanced sound out-of-the-box, consider the Apple HomePod mini.

The original Google Home speaker released in November 2016 featured a cylindrical shape with colored status LEDs on top. In October 2017, Google announced two additions to the product lineup, the miniature puck-shaped Google Home Mini and a larger Google Home Max. In October 2018, the company released the Google Home Hub, a smart speaker with a 7-inch touchscreen. In May 2019, Google announced that Google Home devices would be rebranded under the Google Nest banner, and it unveiled the Nest Hub Max, a larger smart display.

Note: Google Nest Mini is a smart speaker that allows you to speak to Google Assistant, and play music.

Plug in the Google Nest Mini to an electrical outlet.

Download or open the Google Home app on your phone/tablet.

Follow instructions that appear on the screen.

Note: Select the plus sign in at the top corner of the Google Home app on your phone/tablet if instructions do not appear automatically.

Select Set Up Device.

Select Set Up New Devices in your home.

Follow remaining steps.

You will now be able to use the buttons with the nest mini icon. These buttons use speech output from Snap to communicate with Google.

Hi there,

I preordered the Reolink Doorbell and imho this is by far the most complete doorbell. Especially the storage part.

But i am afraid this doorbell isn't perfect for 100%. But maybe i am wrong. What i miss is the notification on third Party equipment like Google Home although it should be Google compliant.

When someone pushes the doorbell my Nest Hub won't let me see, and my Nest mini's don't let me hear that there is someone at the frontdoor. Isn't that part of the fact being "Google Home/ a*sistant" compliant?

Isn't it a little detour to ask Google to stream the doorbell when someone rings the doorbell at the frontdoor?

Is there a workaround for this? Are ther future plans to integrated this functionallity? I think this will make this doorbell simple the best you can get.
