# Privacy Policy for Unread Checker for Gmail

Unread Checker for Gmail is a Chrome extension that displays the unread count for a user's Gmail inbox and opens or focuses Gmail when the toolbar button is clicked.
## Information Processed
The extension requests Gmail's inbox Atom feed from `https://mail.google.com/mail/feed/atom` using the Gmail session already present in the user's browser. The extension parses the unread-count field and may display the Gmail account email address returned in the feed title.
The extension stores the following information locally in Chrome extension storage:
- Gmail inbox unread count
- Gmail account email address, when available from the feed title
- Last checked time
- Auto-refresh preference and refresh interval
## How Information Is Used
This information is used only to provide the extension's single purpose: showing an unread Gmail inbox count in the Chrome toolbar badge and helping the user open or focus their Gmail inbox.
## Data Sharing
The extension does not sell, share, transfer, or transmit user data to the developer, analytics providers, advertising networks, or any third party. The only network request made by the extension is to Gmail over HTTPS to retrieve the inbox unread-count feed.
## Advertising
The extension does not serve ads and does not use user data for personalized advertising, retargeting, or interest-based advertising.
## Human Access
The developer does not receive, inspect, or have human access to users' Gmail data or extension storage.
## Data Retention and Deletion
Unread count, account email address, last checked time, and refresh settings remain stored locally in Chrome until the user clears the saved count, changes settings, or uninstalls the extension.
## Security
The extension communicates with Gmail over HTTPS. User data is processed locally in the browser and is not sent to the developer's servers.
