Medical image computing

Medical Image Computing (MIC) is an interdisciplinary field, merging computer science, information engineering, electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, and medicine. It focuses on developing computational and mathematical methods to address challenges in medical images for biomedical research and clinical care. MIC aims to extract clinically relevant information from images, particularly emphasizing computational analysis rather than image acquisition. Methods in MIC include image segmentation, registration, physiological modeling, and other computational approaches such as artificial intelligence.
