Magic Fridge AI (“Magic Fridge”, “we”,
“us”, or “the app”) is a mobile cooking assistant that suggests recipes
from the ingredients you have. This Privacy Policy explains what
information we handle when you use the app, how it is used, with whom it
is shared, and the choices and rights you have. The app is provided by
PANAGIOTIS PAPAIOANNOU, based in Greece.
By installing or using Magic Fridge AI you agree to this Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, please uninstall the app.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heading 1: 1. Summary in one paragraph
Normal text: Magic Fridge AI works anonymously. We do not ask you to
sign up, and we do not collect your name, email, phone number, address,
contacts, or precise location. We assign each install a random device
identifier so we can remember your favourite recipes, credit balance,
and in-app purchases. Ingredient text and any fridge photo you choose to
scan are sent to Google Gemini through the Emergent AI platform for
recipe generation and ingredient recognition; they are not stored by us
and are not used to train AI models. You can delete all of your data at
any time from inside the app.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heading 1: 2. Information we collect
Heading 2: 2.1 Anonymous device identifier
Normal text: When you first open the app, we generate a random device
identifier (a UUID) and store it securely on your device. This
identifier is not linked to your name, email, phone number, Google
account, Apple account, or advertising identifier. It is used only to
attach your saved recipes, credit balance, and purchase history to your
specific install of the app on our servers.
Heading 2: 2.2 Content you provide
Normal text: - Ingredient text you type into the app. - Fridge photos
you optionally submit for AI scanning. - Dietary filters, cooking time
preferences, region, language, and unit preferences. - Favourite recipes
you save and shopping list items you check off.
Heading 2: 2.3 Purchase information
Normal text: When you buy a credit pack through Google Play In-App
Billing, our server receives a Google Play order ID, the product ID
(which credit pack was purchased), the number of credits granted, and a
purchase token used to verify the transaction with Google. We do not
receive or store your credit card number, bank account, billing address,
or Google Play account email. All payment processing happens inside
Google Play.
Heading 2: 2.4 Technical logs
Normal text: Our servers keep short-lived operational logs (IP address
of the request, timestamp, and endpoint called) for security and abuse
prevention. These logs are automatically rotated and deleted within 30
days and are not linked to your device identifier or to any personal
information.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heading 1: 3. Information we do NOT collect
Normal text: - No name, email address, phone number, physical address,
or user account. - No precise or approximate location (no GPS, no
IP-based geolocation). - No contacts, calendar, SMS, call logs, or files
outside the photos you explicitly pick. - No advertising identifier
(GAID / IDFA). We do not show ads and we do not track you for
advertising. - No third-party analytics SDKs (no Google Analytics, no
Firebase Analytics, no Meta SDK, no Amplitude, no Mixpanel). - We do not
store your fridge photos on our servers. Photos are streamed to the AI
provider during the scan request and discarded from memory as soon as
the response is returned.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heading 1: 4. How we use the information
Normal text: We use the information described above only to: - Provide
the core features of the app: recipe suggestions, fridge scanning, meal
planning, favourites, and shopping lists. - Remember your preferences
(language, region, units, dietary filters) between sessions. - Track
your remaining AI credits and honour purchases you have made. - Verify
in-app purchases with Google Play and grant the correct number of
credits. - Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and technical errors. -
Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or automated
decision-making that has legal effects on you.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heading 1: 5. Third parties we share data with
Normal text: Magic Fridge AI relies on a small number of clearly
identified third-party service providers:
Heading 2: 5.1 Google Gemini (via the Emergent AI platform)
Normal text: Ingredient text and fridge photos are sent to Google Gemini
through the Emergent AI proxy for the sole purpose of generating recipes
and identifying ingredients. According to Google’s terms for the Gemini
API, inputs and outputs from paid API usage are not used to train
Google’s models. We do not send any personal identifier, device
identifier, or contact information along with these requests.
Heading 2: 5.2 Google Play In-App Billing and Google Play Developer API
Normal text: Purchases of credit packs are processed by Google Play. Our
backend uses the Google Play Developer API to verify that each purchase
token is genuine and to receive refund notifications so we can adjust
your credit balance if a purchase is refunded by Google.
Heading 2: 5.3 Hosting
Normal text: Our backend is hosted on the Emergent cloud platform, which
handles server infrastructure, database storage, and application
hosting. Emergent processes data on our behalf under standard
data-processing terms and does not access your data for its own
purposes.
We do not sell, rent, or trade any information to any third party, and
we do not share data with advertising networks or data brokers.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heading 1: 6. International data transfers
Normal text: Our servers and the AI providers we use may process data in
the United States, the European Union, and other regions. Where
applicable, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent
transfer mechanisms to protect data leaving your jurisdiction.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heading 1: 7. Data retention
Normal text: - Device row, saved favourites, and preferences: retained
until you delete your data from inside the app or the app has been
uninstalled and inactive on our servers for at least twelve (12)
months. - Purchase records: retained for as long as required by tax,
accounting, and consumer-protection laws in the jurisdictions where the
app is sold (typically up to seven (7) years). - Fridge photos: not
retained. Discarded from memory immediately after each scan request. -
Operational server logs: automatically deleted within 30 days.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heading 1: 8. Your rights and choices
Normal text: Because the app is anonymous, we cannot identify you across
devices. However, on each device you can exercise the following rights
at any time:
- Delete all data: Open the app, go to Settings, and tap “Delete my
data”. This immediately removes your device row, all saved
favourites, all preferences, and your purchase history from our
servers. This action is irreversible.
- Access your data: Everything we hold about your device is already
visible inside the app (credit balance, favourites, preferences,
purchase history in the Restore Purchases screen).
- Correct your data: You can edit your preferences and favourites
directly in the app.
- Withdraw consent: Uninstalling the app stops any further data
collection. If you also tap “Delete my data” before uninstalling, we
will erase what we have already stored.
- Object or restrict: You can stop using AI features at any time; only
local features (viewing existing favourites and shopping list) will
remain available.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom,
Switzerland, California, Brazil, or another region with equivalent data
protection laws (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD, etc.), you also have
the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection
authority.
To exercise any right that requires our assistance, email us at
panosedessa38@gmail.com.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heading 1: 9. Security
Normal text: We use HTTPS for all traffic between the app and our
servers. Device identifiers are stored on your device in the platform’s
secure keystore (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain). Server access is
restricted to authorised operators, and databases are encrypted at rest.
No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your data has been
compromised, please contact us immediately.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heading 1: 10. Children
Normal text: Magic Fridge AI is not directed at children under 13 (or
under 16 in jurisdictions where that is the applicable age of digital
consent). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you
believe a child has provided data to the app, please contact us and we
will delete it promptly.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heading 1: 11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
Normal text: We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When
we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
For material changes, we will also notify you inside the app before the
change takes effect. Continued use of the app after the effective date
of an updated policy constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heading 1: 12. Contact
Normal text: If you have questions, requests, or complaints about this
Privacy Policy or about how your data is handled, please email:
panosedessa38@gmail.com
Data controller: PANAGIOTIS PAPAIOANNOU, Greece.

📌 After you publish the Google Sites page
1. Copy the public URL
(e.g. https://sites.google.com/view/magicfridge-privacy).
2. Paste it into Google Play Console → App content → Privacy policy.
3. Also paste it into Data safety → Privacy policy URL if asked.
4. Come back here — I’ll also update /api/legal/privacy in the app to
point to this new Google Sites URL (so Settings → Privacy inside the
app opens the same live page), and update the in-app
panosedessa38@gmail.com email if you switch to a different contact
address.
Anything you’d like me to adjust — tone, add a “Data Safety” summary
table, or change the retention wording?
