Magic ICD is a Chrome extension built for internal use at one Athena medical practice. This page describes what the extension does and does not do with data.
When you click "Run" on an open Athena encounter, Magic ICD reads the Assessment & Plan note already visible on that page, extracts the ICD-10 diagnosis codes and plan text written there, looks each code up, and registers the diagnoses back into that same Athena encounter.
The extension only reads data from the Athena encounter page you already have open in your own logged-in session. It does not access any other tabs, any other websites, or any data outside of that one encounter.
The extension communicates only with these domains, all of which are already part of the practice's existing Athena/IMO coding workflow:
athenanet.athenahealth.com — the practice's own Athena instance
providerfriendlyterms.api.athena.io — Athena's own IMO diagnosis-coding proxy
api.imohealth.com — IMO's diagnosis/problem search service, used by Athena itself for coding
No data is sent to any other server, third party, or analytics service. The extension has no backend of its own.
After each run, a plain-text troubleshooting log is saved to the user's own computer (their Downloads folder) for debugging purposes. This file never leaves the user's machine unless they choose to share it themselves.
This extension is built for and used by staff of a single medical practice as an internal workflow tool. It is not distributed publicly and is not intended for use outside that practice's own Athena environment.
Questions about this extension or this policy can be directed to the practice administrator who distributed it to you.
