Valentina watched the film Madre and was inspired by it to create this illustrated poster for the Film Impact Campaign - It’s not a scene from the film but rather a “scene” from Valentina’s childhood in Venezuela.
This scene brings me closer to my mother (who has passed away). Every day, as I prepare an arepa and brew a cup of coffee, I summon her presence and the memory of Venezuela. Arepas and coffee with milk are a bundle of shared longing, a common thread that ties all immigrants together"
