"The rest is silence."
‘Maddie is Hamlet’ is a one-person show about grief, loss and mourning. Using the character of Hamlet as a jumping-off point, I explore my experience of my dad dying unexpectedly just after I returned to Sydney in 2016.
‘Maddie is Hamlet’ uses both the text of Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’, my own writing and recordings from conversations I had with my dad before he died to tell this story.
Originally developed in 2017 for CRACK Theatre Festival at This is Not Art, supported by Shopfront Arts Co-op Open Shop. Presented again in 2018 at PACT's Salon Artifice x Interface, curated by Bonnie Cowan & Alex Stevenson.
