The Trout Museum of Art invites you to commission a one-of-a-kind artwork from a curated list of artists ready to work with you! Each commission supports artists, strengthens our creative community, and gives you something truly unique.
In 2026, our goal is to raise $100,000 through commissions - half goes directly to your artist and supports museum programs.
New this year: We’re expanding across coasts! Artists from Wisconsin and California join others from Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee, bringing fresh styles and ideas to the program.
Commissioned works will exhibit in the Made to Order show, on view July 18–September 27, 2026. After the exhibition, your artwork (and its story) are yours to keep.

1. Browse the artists below! Find an artist whose style speaks to you.
2. Think about what you’d like your commissioned piece to reflect. Your style, a special place, a memory, or someone meaningful.
3. Choose your budget. Each artist lists their price ranges.
4. Let us know which artist you’d like to work with by filling out the Made to Order interest form.
5. Museum staff will coordinate an introduction and help guide the conversation.
6. A 50% down payment is due to get started, with the remaining 50% due when your art is completed. Half your commission price is also tax-deductible as a donation to the museum
7. Your artist will begin creating your one-of-a-kind piece!
8. All commissioned works will be exhibited at the new Trout Museum of Art from July 18 to September 27, 2026.
9. After the exhibition wraps in September, your artwork is yours to keep and enjoy for years to come!
