Coach for College is an international service-learning program that unites U.S. student-athletes and Vietnamese university students to teach academics, sports, and life skills to underprivileged teens in rural Vietnam.
Summer of 2022, chosen as one of eight U.S. college mentors to join a three-week program. Serving as a teacher, coach, and mentor, my role extended beyond the classroom and playing field. Our mission became one of inspiring these teens to recognize the value of education and empowering them to dream bigger.
Collaborating closely with other U.S. student-athletes and Vietnamese college students, we formed a united team committed to providing these teens with the academic knowledge and life skills needed to thrive.
This experience offered me firsthand insight into the powerful impact of education, empathy, and teamwork. I also learned the value of adaptability and cross-cultural communication—essential skills for navigating diverse environments in the professional world.
