A landmark of Madang
Kalibobo Light House stands on Kalibobo Point at the mouth of Madang Harbor - part working Light house, part war memorial. It's white wall carry bronze plaques dedicated to the Coast Watchers and the loyal Papua New Guineans who assisted them behind enemy lines in the Second World War, transmitting vital intelligence that helped turn the tide of the Pacific campaign.
Today it is one of Madang's most recognized landmarks – a place travellers photographs from cruise ships in the harbor, and a place the community returns to remember.
