ABOUT ME

Hi there and welcome to my site.

I'm James, from Sunderland up in the North East of England. We are known as Mackems (not Geordies btw) so given I teach Chemistry, MaChemGuy seemed to work.

I'm an A level Chemistry teacher with 30 years experience of teaching most of the major UK exam boards. I currently teach OCR A but don't let that put you off if you study something different. Since the channel started in 2013, I've had thousands of comments from students from around the country and beyond telling me how helpful the videos have been for them and how they have helped them to score amazing grades in Chemistry!

I started the channel by accident. Just thought I'd make a few videos to help my students with some tricky topics. Had nowhere to put them so reluctantly uploaded to YouTube. I nearly died when people other than my own students were watching and commenting on them - MaChemGuy was born!

YouTube can be a bit of a nightmare to find stuff. I'll often get messages from students asking me to make a video on a particular topic - the problem being, I've already made it!!! I've organised the site to make it easier (hopefully) to find the video/playlist you want.
