MacGregor Nursery School
Our Objective
The goal of MacGregor Day Nursery School is to provide a rich program which offers children the opportunity to learn through play. We use a variety of group and individual activities that develop cognitive skills, language abilities, social skills, physical and mental health and a good self concept. These include arts and crafts, cutting, drawing, games, music, blocks, puzzles, dramatic play and stories. We look forward to a rewarding year full of opportunities for fun and development for your child.
Our Philosophy
MacGregor Nursery School provides opportunities to explore and discover in a warm and nurturing environment. Our program is designed to promote independence, responsibility and respect for others and self. The program focuses on enhancing the learning and development of all children regardless of ability, ethnicity or economics.
Our Director
Nadine Dobbin, B.Ed., ECEII
Nadine has been the director of Nursery School since 2009. Before joining us, she worked at a daycare in Portage la Prairie for 14 years. She loves working with this age group and is continuously taking workshops related to preschool education, including Circle of Security Training.
Our Students
Children 3 or 4 years of age on or before December 31st of the current school year are eligible to attend. If there are spots available after the registration deadline (usually May 31st of the previous school year), registration will open for children age 2-5 by Dec 31st.
All children attending Nursery School must be toilet trained. The director and/or staff assist with toileting during school hours. If your child is unable to be toilet trained due to a medical condition, the nursery school must be notified upon registration. A signed doctor’s note describing the condition should accompany the registration. The Nursery School will attempt to accommodate the medical condition if possible.
Our Location and Hours
We are currently operating out of a space in the MacGregor EMC Church. We operate Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9am-11:30am from September - June. Students may be signed up for one, two, or three days a week.
Current daily fees may be found in the registration package. Many families are eligible for the Childcare Subsidy from the MB Government.
