This privacy policy applies to the Maarg app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices that was created by Maarg (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a Freemium service. This service is intended for use "AS IS".
Information Collection and Use The Application collects information when you download and use it. This information may include:
Your device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address)
The pages of the Application that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages
The time spent on the Application
The operating system you use on your mobile device
Device type and model
Unique device identifiers (e.g. Firebase Installation ID)
App crash logs and performance diagnostics
The Application does not gather precise information about the location of your mobile device. The Application does not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to process your data or provide features.
The Service Provider may use the information you provided to contact you from time to time to provide you with important information, required notices and marketing promotions.
For a better experience, while using the Application, the Service Provider may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information, including but not limited to:
Authentication data: Email address (via Google Sign-In) and display name
Profile information: Profile photo (uploaded voluntarily), username, bio, and country
Demographic data: Age or date of birth
Educational data: Educational stage (school, high school, undergraduate, postgraduate, etc.), course or exam you are preparing for (e.g. CA, CMA, CFA, CPA, NEET, JEE, etc.), exam name, exam date, selected level/group, study preferences such as daily study goal and session duration
Study & usage data: Focus session records (start time, end time, duration, mode), task records (title, description, due dates, completion status, subject tags), syllabus progress (subjects, chapters, topics, and subtopics completed), revision schedules, and achievement/badge data
Social data: Follower and following lists, friend requests, blocked user IDs, user search queries, and online/focus status (last seen, currently focusing, on break)
Chat data: Messages sent within study rooms (text content, sender information, reactions, replies, bookmarks), including read receipts
Room data: Study room names, descriptions, room type (public/private/locked), member lists, room icons, and room join requests
Device tokens: Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) tokens for sending push notifications
Subscription data: Premium subscription status and related purchase identifiers (processed via RevenueCat)
The information that the Service Provider requests will be retained by them and used as described in this privacy policy.
Educational Content and Accuracy The Application provides pre-loaded syllabus and course templates for various exams. Please be aware that:
This content is a mix of various standard sources and is provided for indicative purposes only.
Course structures, names, or the order of chapters, topics, and subtopics may not always be 100% accurate or identical to the official syllabus issued by educational boards or professional bodies.
Users are encouraged to verify critical syllabus details with official sources.
Third-Party Assets and Attribution The Application utilizes high-quality assets from third-party providers. We acknowledge and thank:
Streamline: For providing free SVG icons and illustrations used throughout the Application.
Pixabay: For providing music and audio assets used during focus sessions and within the Application.
User-Generated Content The Application allows users to create and share content including:
Chat messages in study rooms (which are visible to other room members)
Profile information (display name, bio, profile photo) visible to other users
Study room names, descriptions, and icons visible to other room members
You are responsible for the content you share through the Application. The Service Provider reserves the right to remove content that violates these terms.
Push Notifications The Application uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to send push notifications. These may include task reminders, study session alerts, social notifications (follower updates, room invitations, ranking updates), and other service-related notices. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device's system settings.
Local Data Storage The Application stores certain data locally on your device using SharedPreferences, including theme preferences, app settings, focus session data, and notification scheduling information. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to external servers.
Third Party Access Only aggregated, anonymized data is periodically transmitted to external services to aid the Service Provider in improving the Application and their service. The Service Provider may share your information with third parties in the ways that are described in this privacy statement. Please note that the Application utilizes third-party services that have their own Privacy Policy about handling data. The Service Provider may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:
as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process;
when they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
with their trusted services providers who work on their behalf, do not have an independent use of the information we disclose to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.
Opt-Out Rights You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling it. You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network. You may also opt out of analytics tracking by contacting the Service Provider at maarg.hq@gmail.com.
Data Retention Policy The Service Provider will retain User Provided data for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable time thereafter. If you'd like them to delete User Provided Data that you have provided via the Application, please contact them at maarg.hq@gmail.com and they will respond in a reasonable time. You may also delete your account and all associated data directly from within the Application by navigating to Settings > Delete Account. Upon account deletion, all personal data including your profile information, study data, focus sessions, tasks, chat messages, room memberships, and social connections will be permanently removed from our servers.
Children The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13. The Application does not address anyone under the age of 13. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case the Service Provider discovers that a child under 13 has provided personal information, the Service Provider will immediately delete this from their servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact the Service Provider (maarg.hq@gmail.com) so that they will be able to take the necessary actions.
Security The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. The Service Provider provides physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information the Service Provider processes and maintains. The Application also uses Firebase App Check to protect backend resources from abuse and unauthorized access.
Changes This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes to the Privacy Policy by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.
Your Consent By using the Application, you are consenting to the processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us.
