Sunday Funday Rescheduled to 10/18
Walk, Bike, Scoot, Skate! Skip cars and buses and join the fun by walking or rolling to school
Join us for our second annual Lyons Farm fall walk or roll to school day on October 9th! This year will feature a "bike bus" style map with a goal of converging multiple neighborhoods for the final trek to school in the morning. Bikers should coordinate with neighbors to join the bike bus. Walkers, scooters, skateboards, bikers on training wheels, etc. should coordinate with neighbors to walk together.
Please review all safety info: bikers should follow the bike bus map and avoid biking near the intersection of Lyon Farm Dr. and Scott King Rd., and cars should not stop along Goldflower Rd.
We'll have volunteers on site to help with bike parking, student sign out at the end of the day, etc., but individual neighborhoods should coordinate morning meeting times and locations for walkers and bikers. If you're able, consider acting as a neighborhood leader, who will coordinate your neighborhood plans. Neighborhood leaders are not assuming responsibility for children who are not their own unless it is set up separately.
Please note that students must be accompanied by an adult while walking or biking to school, and parents or an approved adult must pick students up at the end of the day. The adult does not have to be the child's own parent, but you should coordinate with someone you trust if you'll be sending your child without you.
If possible, please commit to the event by October 2nd to allow time to connect neighborhood leaders.
This map shows approximate passing times for the bike bus to school. All times are approximate. The bike bus will pause at The Fenwick/Herndon intersection until 7:15 if the group arrives ahead of schedule. Bikers leaving from Huntington Ridge and/or Chancellor’s Ridge, Herndon Trace and/or Oakhurst, the Fairfield Clubhouse, and Grandale Place are responsible for starting their ride at the indicated time so others can join en route!
This map shows areas that cars need to avoid during drop off and pick up for walk or bike to school day. Make sure to choose a route that prioritizes the safety of all bikers and walkers!
Please note the included safety instructions for cars: do NOT park, unload, or drop off kids along Goldflower Drive!
