Izaak Walton League of America

Welcome from the Izaak Walton League of Lynchburg. We are part of the Izaak Walton League of America, a non-profit national conservation organization with a mission, "To conserve, maintain, protect, and restore the soil, forest, water, and other natural resources of the United States and other lands; to promote means and opportunities for the education of the public with respect to such resources and their enjoyment and wholesome utilization."

Established in January 1941, one of the ways the Lynchburg, Virginia, chapter has striven to fulfill the IWLA mission is through the development and maintenance of our Walton Park recreational facility. Located in Amherst County, just north of Madison Heights, Walton Park covers 325 acres. We have a wonderful selection of activities for our members:

Camping - 30 & 50 A services with water and waste hookups. Playgrounds and a large wading pool for the kiddies.

Picniking - tables, grill facilities, and a pavilion are available

Two lakes - for swimming, fishing, kayaking and canoeing. Both lakes are stocked with fish.

Excellent trap & skeet and archery facilities

300 yard rifle range, 50 yard pistol range. A variety of rifle and pistol-oriented activities

Of all the questions which can come before this nation, short of the actual preservation of its existence in a great war, there is none which compares in importance with the great central task of leaving this land even a better land for our descendants that it is for us.
