The Town of Lyman’s Historical Committee, successfully worked with Lyman Elementary staff and young students during the holidays. According to principal Scott McPhee, this made a good connection between them and the Town.
Our committee was successful in establishing both a Facebook site (Lyman Historical Committee) and formalizing an on-line site (www.lymanhistory.com). Much is yet to be done to organize the materials being presented.
We continue the process of digitalizing our documents and photos and welcome more contributions from anyone who has any Lyman-related materials such as photos of Lyman: scenes, school classes, sports, military, towns people or newspaper clipping, family histories and personal accounts. These can be delivered to the Lyman Town City Clerk at the Town Hall. Digital copies can be sent to Bud Meyers (flyghotir@gmail.com) or 360-826-3301. Copies will be made and originals returned to you.
We are clearing and making adjustments to the Minkler Mansion upstairs historical presentation to make it better for tours.
We are pleased to report Mickie Buchanan has joined the committee. He is a life member of the community: well-known, active, with an up-close understanding of our town. His family has been a large part of the life of this place.
Mick can make significant contributions to our historical efforts. He has already proposed reestablishing our historical agenda with participation in the Car Show events, as had been done over a decade ago.
The next meeting of the Town of Lyman’s Historical Committee will be:
Thursday March 5th, at 7:00 pm in the Lyman Town Hall. 8405 Main Street.
Anyone is free to attend and volunteers for the committee are welcomed.
Thank you,
Bud Meyers, chairman
