1. Information We Collect and How We Use It

LYD is designed with privacy as a core value. The app does not collect, store, or share any personally identifiable information or usage statistics.

Integration with Media Servers (Plex, Jellyfin, Navidrome): To connect to your personal media servers, such as Plex, Jellyfin, or Navidrome, the app will ask for your server address and login credentials. The app stores your server address and a corresponding authentication token (API key) securely only on your local device. This information is used exclusively to connect to, browse, and play media content from your own private library. This information is never sent to us or any third party. We never store your password in plaintext.

Local Music Files: The app may request permission to read audio files from your device's local storage. This access is used solely to find, display, and play music you already have stored on your device. No files or file information are copied, uploaded, or shared from your device.

Downloaded Content: If you use the feature to download music from your media server, the files are stored locally within the app's private storage area on your device to enable offline playback.

Analytics and Usage Data: LYD does not collect any form of analytics or usage data. We do not track how you use the app, what music you play, or how long you use it. There is no built-in tracking or crash reporting that sends data to us.

2. App Permissions and Why We Need Them

LYD requests the following permissions to function correctly:

INTERNET: Required to connect to and stream music from your personal media server (Plex, Jellyfin, Navidrome).

READ_MEDIA_AUDIO / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Required to find and play local music files on your device.

FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK: Required to allow music to continue playing in the background when you switch to another app or the screen is turned off.

WAKE_LOCK: Prevents the device from entering deep sleep during playback, ensuring a stable and uninterrupted listening experience.

ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used to check if the device has an active network connection before attempting to stream music. This prevents errors and provides a better user experience.

3. Third-Party Services

To offer rich functionality, LYD integrates with certain third-party platforms and services.

Self-Hosted Media Servers: The app acts as a client for your own installations of Plex, Jellyfin, and/or Navidrome. Your interaction with this software is governed by the terms and privacy policies of the respective platform.

Android Auto & Google Cast (Chromecast): When you use LYD with Android Auto or Google Cast, the app must share playback metadata (such as song title, artist, and album art) and playback status with Google's services for the functionality to work. This data exchange is subject to the Google Privacy Policy.

4. Data Security

All information the app stores, such as authentication tokens for your servers, is stored only on your device. We take security seriously, but please remember that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Children's Privacy

LYD is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
