This two-day seminar is led by Storm Trysail Club and US Sailing moderators. The detailed, interactive curriculum gives hands-on experience with damage control, distress signals, firefighting, storm sails, water survival, life rafts, crew overboard (COB) rescue, and more. Hands-on stations include:
On the Water: Latest advances in crew overboard recovery, setting storm sails, emergency steering, and emergency response.
In the Pool: Practice life raft use, foul weather gear and PFD inflation, combating hypothermia, individual and group survival. Learn the best ways to stay afloat, work as a team, right and board a life raft. An inflatable personal flotation device (PFD) and tether are required equipment for realistic training. If you don’t wear a PFD like you would offshore, it isn’t realistic.
Firefighting and Pyrotechnics: Outside session with firefighting instruction for multiple scenarios and the use of flares and pyrotechnics.
Damage Control: A comprehensive, hands-on session covering emergency repair, search and rescue, emergency communication, and much more.
Attendees for the full weekend — Saturday 9:00-5:00 and Sunday 7:30-5:00 — will receive a World Sailing-Compliant US Sailing Sanctioned International Offshore Safety at Sea with Hands-On Training Certificate.

Inflatable PFD for offshore sailing with an integral harness, 33lb/150 newton buoyancy, etc. Your dinghy life jacket is not sufficient for the hands-on PFD exercises.
Spare CO2 cartridge for your inflatable PFD,
A dinghy life jacket.
Set of foul weather gear including jacket, pants, and boots/shoes. This will all get wet.
Change of clothes and towel. You will be in the pool or in the water. The training is designed to be realistic and give you the confidence to handle the added weight of the wet sailing gear.
Attendance at the seminar is limited, please do not wait to register.
Payment is due at the time of registration.
