How the LYCommUNIty App Works
How the LYCommUNIty App Works
LYCommUNIty is a student engagement and campus announcement platform developed for the Lyceum of the Philippines University - Batangas (LPU-B) community. It serves as a digital space where school administrators (teachers) can efficiently communicate important updates, and students can stay informed and participate in campus life.
Admins (Teachers or School Staff)
Admins (Teachers or School Staff)
Only admin users—which include teachers and authorized school personnel—have access to:
Post announcements and events
Upload images related to school activities
Monitor and manage student posts in the forum
Since admin accounts are linked to identifiable LPU staff, inappropriate content is unlikely, and actions are fully accountable.
Students
Students
Students can:
View school-wide announcements and event updates
Rate events after attending them
Participate in the student forum to share thoughts or feedback
To ensure the security and exclusivity of the platform, only currently enrolled students using an official @lpubatangas.edu.ph Gmail account can sign up and access app features.
Guest Users
Guest Users
Guests (non-LPU users) can:
View public announcements
Cannot access the events or forum sections
This ensures that sensitive or internal communications remain within the LPU-B community.
Safety & Moderation
Safety & Moderation
The app does not include "report" or "block" buttons.
Since all content is posted by verified LPU students and faculty using official school emails, admins can immediately identify the source of any inappropriate post.
Any violations or offensive behavior by students can be reported directly to the school administration, and may result in formal academic consequences.
Teachers (admins) maintain full control over posts and discussions within the app.

Developer Background
Developer Background
The LYCommUNIty app was created by Computer Science students specializing in Data Science from LPU-B. Although mobile app development is not our main field, we were required to develop an Android application for our undergraduate thesis.
We took on this challenge to build something functional, meaningful, and directly useful to our university—even outside our main area of expertise.
