At a Science Fair, students get to share their own projects and to learn from others as well. Every year, I am looking forward to our Science Fair. And it is not just the mere number of various projects from all branches of Science, but also the abundance of ideas, imagination, and creativity that can lead one to develop a new appreciation of the world.
To help the students learn more from other projects, we have the following tools for them:
Visitor Learning Worksheet: 3rd grade, 4-5th grade
List of questions to ask after listening to a Science Fair Presentation (see below).
Where did you get this idea?
What research did you do?
When did you start working on your project? How long did it take you to complete this project?
What would be your next experiment? If you had more time, what would you add to your current project?
What part of the project was the hardest? or the most fun / exciting / or the most surprising?
If you had to do it all over again, is there anything you would do differently?
What were your independent and dependent variables?
What was your control?
What did you measure and how?
How did you calculate that result?
What does that graph tell you?
How variable were your results and what might explain the variability?
