Important Dates

What are the important dates associated with this Invitational?

Oct 16 - online pre-registration closes; second team notifications sent.

Oct 30 - proctor assignments will be shared / published.

Nov 13 - payment / COI due & event schedule will be shared / published.

Nov 20 - self-scheduling events opens.

Registration

When does pre-registration end? October 16 or when we fill to capacity of 30 teams.

How many teams can my school bring? We are only taking one team per school for pre-registration. If we are not at capacity on Oct 16, then we will accept second teams in order of first team pre-registration.

What is the cost per team? $175 per team, payable to Ladera Vista Science Olympiad Booster Club (LVSOBC); put your school name on the MEMO line.

What is the Certificate of Insurance verbiage? "Each participating school must provide Fullerton School District a General Liability Certificate of Insurance with a $1 million per occurrence limit and $2 million aggregate. An endorsement must be provided naming Fullerton School District, its officers, agents, employees, and volunteers as Additional Insureds."

Will I receive a receipt for the Invitational payment? Yes. A receipt will be in your welcome packet that you receive at Team Registration on the day of the event.

What is needed to be officially registered? When we receive your $175 payment, Certificate of Insurance and verification of your paid registration with your local county Science Olympiad Organization.

When will my team(s) be assigned a team number? When payment and COI are received and your local county registration is verified.

Proctoring

When will I know what event(s) my team is proctoring? Assignments will be shared on Oct 30.

How will I know what my team is proctoring? For registration status, team # and proctor assignments CLICK HERE

What rules should I be following when proctoring my event? NO DRAFT RULES - Official Rules only, which can be downloaded HERE.

What am I responsible for if I am proctoring a TESTING event? You will create the test using the official rules and bring enough copies and materials to accommodate 30 competing teams during each event rotation (up to 10 teams will compete during each event rotation).

What am I responsible for if I am proctoring a TESTING / ENGINEERING COMBINATION event? You will create the test using the official rules and bring enough copies, materials and scoring rubrics to accommodate 30 competing teams (up to 10 teams will compete during each event rotation). What am I responsible for if I am proctoring a self scheduled ENGINEERING event? You will need to bring a laptop to run the scoring spreadsheet based on official rules and enough copies of the scoring rubrics to accommodate 30 competing teams. You will also need to bring any tools or apparatuses need to test and evaluate the prototypes. Important downloads to help you proctor your events can be found HERE.

Day of the Event

What is the schedule of events? Final Schedule with Room Assignments..

How is the parking situation? Parking is limited in the lot. Though there are many surrounding side streets for parking, carpooling is advised.

What time will the campus be open? Event Coordinators and Custodians will be on campus at 700a. You can arrive at that time to set up your Team's Headquarters. Event rooms will be open for proctor set-up at 730a.

What do I need to bring to register my team on Invitational Day? Coaches need to make sure that each competing student has a signed Parent Consent Form and Media Consent Form to submit and their school ID. Coaches need to make sure each proctor volunteer has a signed Volunteer Form to submit.

Will my students need school IDs? Yes, they will be verified at Team Registration and students will be given wristbands to wear for the day.

Will there be a concession stand? No, please plan your food to bring. For food options to order from CLICK HERE

Will there be a Hospitality Lounge for Coaches and Volunteers? Yes, a light breakfast and lunch will be served.

Post Event Day

When will I have access to the LV SO Division B Invitational test documents? Access to the google drive folder will be granted to coaches during the week AFTER the Invitational.

When will my team receive their test documents? A folder of all test documents will be ready for pick-up AFTER the Awards Ceremony in the gym.
