As we approach the end of the year, LVUSD’s Center EdX is excited to launch a new grant-funded MicroCredential Program for all certificated and classified staff who are interested in participating. The below information outlines the elements of the program, as well as the next steps for those who might be interested in participating.
Elements of the MicroCredential Program:
Courses: We are launching ten MicroCredentials that staff can earn to support their professional growth in a broad range of disciplines. Each MicroCredential is attained after the completion of three college-level courses through Center EdX.
Tuition-Free: All courses and course materials are provided to LVUSD employees at no cost!
Completion Stipends: Completing each course level of a MicroCredential affords LVUSD employees a progressively increasing completion stipend that begins at $350 and concludes at $750.
College Credit: Should you prefer college credit over a completion stipend, you can receive 3 quarter units per completed course for salary schedule advancement or Classified Professional Growth.
Classified Employment Test Bypass: Some MicroCredentials help classified staff accelerate in their career and bypass future LVUSD employment tests. These are indicated in the MicroCredential Handbook.
Next Steps:
Faculty Recruitment: We are currently recruiting qualified LVUSD Certificated and Classified staff to teach upcoming courses. Instructors go through an application and interview process and are paid on the Center EdX faculty salary schedule, all of which can be found at CenterEdX.LVUSD.org/careers. The application deadline for the Fall term is May 2nd at 5:00 PM.
Course Registration: Is now available at CenterEdX.LVUSD.org/micro. Should we need to limit enrollment for any course, availability will be determined on a first-come, first-served basis. Know that the max number of courses you can enroll in at one time is two, and that grant funding might limit our overall enrollment. All policies are outlined in the handbook linked to the site above.
We hope that you can participate in this exciting next chapter of Center EdX!
