For my second project in Engineering 3, I was tasked with designing and constructing a wooden shelf for the lab sink in the woodshop. This shelf included grooves machined on the 24R router, that fit onto the pipes of the sink to keep it in place. I found planks of tongue-and-groove pine in the woodshop surplus, which worked well for the securing of planks side by side, and the machining. After determining the width the shelf would have to be, and the correct number and width of the boards, I designed a groove on either side of the shelf, the same diameter(with some clearance) as the tubing on the shelf.
