Most school districts in Fremont County have "Angel" funds to support student lunch debt. We believe that every student deserves to feel supported and encouraged, and that students learn best when they are well-fed.
We challenge all of our Fremont County community to band together and fill those "Angel" funds this year. Show your love for the children of Fremont County by ensuring that no child goes hungry!
We will collect funds for this event via nonprofit donations to Venmo, a local bank account, or direct donations to each school district between February 1, and March 15, 2026. We want to encourage everyone to get involved!
Funding will be distributed to the schools based on population. According to the most recent available information, that breakdown is as follows:
Total students- 4491
FCSD 1- 1612 (36%)
FCSD 2- 181 (4%)
FCSD 24- 389 (8.6%)
FCSD 25- 2309 (51.4%)

Listed below are the Fremont County, Wyoming school districts that do NOT participate in a full free lunch program for their students. A school qualifies for 100% free lunches for all students when its demographic includes a certain percentage of students who live below the federal poverty level.
FCSD #1 - Lander
FCSD #2 - Dubois
FCSD #24 Shoshoni
FCSD #25 Riverton
School lunches are subsidized with federal funding, but schools don't receive full reimbursement for the cost. Many school districts still require students to pay for their meals at school (most schools now offer breakfast options as well as lunch). If a family falls within certain income brackets, they may qualify for free or reduced lunch fees.
When a school reaches a certain percentage of its students who qualify for free or reduced lunches, the entire school becomes eligible for free lunches. This is determined by each individual school, rather than by the whole district. Different schools within the same district may have different qualifications.
