Sheng Khaen Sho v1.0.0 KONTAKT: A Collection of Asian Free Reed Instruments

Are you fascinated by the sound of Asian free reed instruments? Do you want to explore the rich musical traditions of China, Laos, and Japan? If so, you might be interested in Sheng Khaen Sho v1.0.0 KONTAKT, a new sample library from Soniccouture that features three of these unique instruments: the Chinese Sheng, the Laotian Khaen, and the Japanese Sho.

The Sheng, the Khaen, and the Sho are all mouth organs that consist of a number of bamboo pipes fitted with metal reeds. The pipes are arranged in a circular or hexagonal shape and connected to a wind chamber that is held in the mouth. The player can produce sound by both inhaling and exhaling, resulting in an almost endless sustained sound, or a quick rhythmic pulsing. Each pipe produces a different pitch, and the player can create chords and melodies by covering or uncovering holes on the pipes with their fingers.
